Here are some pics from another camera. I don't know why the above posted so huge.

Today it has a wafting strong rose fragrance and soft petals. The flowers seem to be going by quickly. The only thing that has me wondering is the colour seems richer than many pics and the blooms nod, while most people's QoS seem to be upright. It's still in a pot and was at Lowe's all summer so I give it credit for surviving at all and perhaps will perk up once I put her in her temporary home this pm.

I don't know or grow 'QoS', but have a look at the puckered-looking foliage in the'QoS' photos at HMF, and see if you think you have a match. Your roses' leaves don't seem as "textured" to me, but photographs can be deceptive.

Hope someone chimes in with more to offer.

I don't think it's QOS, but I'm horrible with Ids ! The shape and petal count seem different. Here's a couple of pics with foliage - and J. Beetles :) Maybe Strawberry Hill? Scepter'd Isle?

Thank you. I see what you mean about the puckered leaves; I think mine are flat. Oh gee. I better figure this out before next spring. Now that she's in the ground, I hope she gives some more blooms that are perhaps a bit more representative. Does anyone have good pics of either Strawberry Hill or Scepter'd Isle?

All these pinks are starting to look the same! Seriously, one minute I'm SURE it's SI, then SH and then the next it HAS TO BE Olivia Rose Austin! I did notice and will post a pic later, that the older leaves do have puckering. I might mention that these bloom are only about 1.5" across, but as these are the first ones they probably aren't indicative of much. I will just have to wait for more blooms. The blooms on my new Tess vary from 1.5" to 3"+! Being potted in two gal. all summer didn't help I'm sure. What the average size bloom you're all seeing for these pinks?

My blooms were pretty small too, vaporvac. At most about 2, 2.5 inches. Mine is only a year old band so, like I said, it's still a very small plant. Maybe the blooms will get bigger as it matures.

Thank you seil. Are you talking about your QOS? The only thing is these blooms nod. I've planted it in a temporary spot, but it will have to go in the spring. I'm just trying to figure out where. I'll try and get a bush shot tomorrow now that she's in the ground, but I'll post the leaves in a bit. Also, hardly anyone posts the fully open flower so it's hard to compare.

How about 'Gentle Hermione'? I don't think it is QOS because those blooms are always perfect. There are so many Austins that are pink at times that it is hard. Eglantyne?

This is not QOS. QOS has upward facing blooms with more pettles. I have grown several pink DAs and this doesn't look like any of them - sharifa asma, heritage, Harlow Carr, boscobel and scepter'd isle. Maybe it's The Mayflower?

The more I read, the more I think it's Olivia Rose Austin. there was one post that had many pics and they were almost identical on a young plant. I have three more buds coming on, so I'll post some more pics. It has put on a lot of growth recently that's very long a gangly making me wonder if it's one of those Austin's that can also be grown as a climber.

Oh yes, I've definitely eliminated QOS, just can't change the tile of the post. Maybe I should just start a new one with a different title? Someone else had bought one of these NOIDs from Lowe's with the Gene Boerner tag and theirs WAS QOS. That's why I proposed it as an option. I'd really like an ID before spring, so I can move her if need be. Thanks for you answers.

Here's another pic of the opening bud and three of it opened. It looks like it has some quartering wanting to form. It's quite different to the messy first flowers in Sept that blew in no time with the heat. The colour is an excellent match for the real thing. Thank you Anne for Olivia close-ups. That second pic does really remind me of the opening flower, but not so much the open flower. does it ever show its stamens? It's hard to see the foliage and buds on you pic. Hmmmm. I'll try to get an even more open pic tomorrow if the weather cooperates. (Click to enlarge.)

Olivia's stamens aren't prominent at all and stay buried in the layers of petals. Here's another photo showing more of the leaves.

I thought it might be the Ambridge Rose but AR is a bit too peach-colored.

Thank you Ann and Arlene for those helpful pics and comments. I can now see from the internal swirls that it's not AO :(, but not sure about TS. There is a familiarity about the buds and growth pattern. Is this a representative flower?

Here's a fairly good pic from today of the fully open flower showing its stamens. The colour is very near to the real thing and I've included a bit of my hand for scale. It's lasting much longer now that it's so cold.This is probably the last flower of the season, so I'll probably have to leave it where it is until I see its growth pattern better. I'm mainly concerned with its size and growth habit as it's very pretty and sweetly fragrant.

I did spend some quality time on HMF searching AUS and found the Wildeve and another (spacing out over here) which also looked good for it. I'm continuing tonight and will post any other possibilities for your comments. Thanks alot for trying to help.

Vaporvac, yes, I'd say that's a good representation of the flowers from what I've seen so far. However my plant is young (less than 2 years) and was transplanted in the spring. It does have a nice sweet fruity fragrance (stronger than my QoS). Yours does look to be a bit more on the pink side whereas mine is more of an apricot. And yours looks to have more petals, although these are both variables that are affected by age and weather. It's probably worth noting that most of the blooms I've had haven't lasted longer than a day once opened, and 3 days at the most.

I also thought itt might be Wildeve after searching through the DA catalog.

I'm going to order Sister Elizabeth for Spring, which I think has a similar form, but is more lilac pink. Will post a photo if I think it's a possibility.

Hmmmm. I agree SE does seem more lilac, as does Bishop Castle. I added a couple more pics from today that do show a slightly apricot/golden tinge. It's a very pretty flower, but currently too spindly for its spot, but of course, I only planted it in August and then it got terrible BS along with every other rose I have. I don't hold that against it, though. I'll continue to post any other blooms if they are different and toss out any possibilities. Please feel free to do the same. I hope I'm not overstaying my welcome on this thread. I look forward to pics of SE.

I agree Arlene about the petal count, but I've seen such variation in some of my roses that it's hard to make a blanket statement. This bloom is more well developed than the earlier ones so it's probably truer to form.

I think I'll order the back-up plan just in case I find this is something that's no good for the spot and see how it does during its Sring flush, while I nurture the pot baby. Hopefully that will give me a good idea of things. What do you all think of that plan?

Could you go on HMF and check out Anne Boleyn? It might be the best fit so far.

Ann, THANK YOU!!! I think you've hit the nail on the head. There's one pic on the page before the last that shows three flowers in different stages with one blown open like my first pics. Even the leaves have the red ribbing. I think it IS AB. There's not much on GW about it, so I'll do some more sleuthing. Is this one still sold as AB, do you know? This is thrilling. It's such a pretty flower, I'm surprised it's so little grown and not much info on it.

I like that it's meant to stay small, now just to see if it looks good next to Dark Desire and New Dawn. I had wanted a VERY light blush there, such as First Crush or Bolero, or a soft pink such as Earth angel or Gruss an Aachen. On the parallel side I wanted something in the same colour as Viking Queen and was thinking of Pretty Jessica. Hmmm. I also have space in the bed with VQ, CL. Falstaff, Heathcliff and Sugar Moon with only morning sun. The next bed I'm planting in the spring will have a climbing pink rose, TessOTD and as yet undetermined. I'll have to look at my old pics and see how it might look with those colours.

The flower is still identical and now lasting days with fragrance in our
now cold weather. It can take freezing. As shown above in the last two
pics it has an almost golden glow with stamens showing and inner petals
recurving towards them. Is that a "button eye"? There is the definite
quartering in this flower unlike the first ones.

I'm so glad that you think it's AB; I was excited when I looked it up on HMF. I also looked at other AB photos on the David Austin Facebook page; I was going to provide you a link to these photos but for some reason, the page isn't bringing them up. If I can get them to appear again, I'll post the link.

I don't know much about AB, only that DA will offer it again this coming year as a tree standard. I queried DA customer service recently about any changes to the tree standard offerings and the only one was that AB would be brought back this year. So I would guess AB would be available as a shrub too. Remembering this email exchange is what prompted me to check out AB as possible candidate for your mystery rose.

This is what greeted me after days of very cold weather followed by non-stop rain. This little rose is a trooper and so much for its blooms not lasting! This has been over a week and it's STILL SO FRAGRANT!!! I love this rose with its cute little button eye!!! Why isn't is grown more often?

Beautiful rose. I think some times they don’t show their best pictures in the catalog and we overlook them. I would love to grow her. This also happened to me with the Wedgwood rose until it got posted here this year and it blew me away and Marlorena’s Ancient Mariner. It is great to get to see the all the pictures here from ”real gardens”
