I'm hoping some people will recognize these three roses:

I'll have a go, just to get things started.

I know you wrote 1935 and floribunda for the first one, but it sure looks a lot like 'Tropicana' to me. Which I've only seen in photos, so I'm not exactly an expert...

I don't have any thoughts about the Polyantha; is that a typical bloom?

Call me crazy, but could your early HT possibly be Mme Abel Chatenay?

Thanks for starting the discussion! It's just the third one that was planted in 35. No date restrictions on the others. The orange fl. is smaller than Tropicana, and a deeper, brighter shade of orange. Yes, the poly flower is typical for it- starting dark, and growing lighter as it opens. I looked at Mme Abel, but it lacks that large button eye, and also appears to be fertile.

Jill, thank you so much for your reply. That "Keith's B-N" is one beautiful little rose. I didn't find it on HMF--will it appear there? I assume it is not available at all (yet)? I can only imagine what it must feel like to discover an unknown old rose--and such a lovely, fragrant one, wow. I was very taken with General Schablikine, so #3 is probably him. I wasn't really intending to take photos, and I normally would have been more careful about snapping pix of the IDs, but I was so overwhelmed by the roses, also the heat!, and I just kept drifting around, often in circles, just drawn to the next beauty that caught my eye. There were some roses that I ended up visiting numerous times, zigzagging around the garden. I look forward to another visit and can't wait to see the spring bloom next year. Sheba

Gene Boerner bred several orange-red floribundas in the 50's and 60's; it seems that his 'Coral Glo' resided (or still resides) at the SJHRG; perhaps some of his other roses do also?

The Coral one could also be America, I don't know if that was ever planted there but I've got several that survive with no water and no care along a fenceline at the vacation rental. It's a climber, but mannerly and with no care and snow gets to about 7-8' every year.
