Problem with floor plan and 48" tile plank orientation

We found a "wood" tile plank that we love in the size that we want (8" x 48"), but we're not very good with design and need some ideas or advice on how best to lay the planks so that we don't ruin the flow of the house. We currently have 20"x20" square tiles in the yellow areas of the floor plan, and even in the small bathrooms it looks great. I'm having an impossible time envisioning the best way to lay the 48" planks (which will be replacing all of the tile in the yellow area) and how to create transitions. I have no idea which way the planks should be orientated in any of the areas. The 90 degree turn from the entryway to the hallway seems problematic. Any ideas?
