Comments (3)I don't agree with all of the choices. Clematis, yes, but honey suckle and morning glory are invasive and considered weeds here. And the only thing I know of that's heavier, stronger and more able to take down a structure than a full grown climbing rose is a full grown wisteria!...See Morea very different year...roses and peonies
Comments (12)Gottagarden, GG is a true red when it opens. As the blooms age they becomes a little less red, more rosy? colored. Lorna, I can't take all the credit for the MF bed. My DH picked out the roses and wanted that color! But I too love it. A high school graduate stopped and asked if she could have her senior picture taken with the roses. I told her beauty is for sharing, so of course. Cameron, yes, the RRD has been painful. I lose about 1-3 roses a year. The ones in the beds are more easily replaced than those on the fence. So I will continue growing them in beds. Nell, the really weird thing is the daylilies are throwing up lots of scapes and should have blooms soon. So they are on schedule or even a little early! I am keeping my fingers crossed, as this year should be fantastic. The bed has really filled in, to the point that almost no ground is visible and the plants look extremely healthy. I think they are loving all the moisture we had this year. Nell I went back and looked through the pictures I took this past week and this is the only full garden room shot I could find. Seeing the bare fence can be a little depressing, but "it is what it is". (That is my new mantra!) I have 18-20 peonies in the yard. So I have had bouquets in almost every room in the house as well as taking some to work. Love the smell. DH is not real keen on them, but I told him they are the one of the all time "grandma" flowers and that I'll never be without them. Several plants are divisions from my mother who in turn had gotten them from her mother. Marylu...See MoreDo I need to replace my peonies?
Comments (3)your peonies are just fine. my dad used to mow over my mom's peonies every summer & they came back just fine in the spring. & we are in zone 5. just give them some more time as this spring is a little longer in coming than in past years. & having been planted 24 years ago, they are very well established so no worries, they will come back....See MoreLooking to replace peonies
Comments (7)I have a Bowl Of Beauty peony I'm hoping to remove and give away come Fall. It's actually been the "parent" of several others in my yard. However it was planted in a super-shady location by the original homeowner and so never blooms more than once in a blue moon. It's a two-toned pink bloom with a cool looking "red eye." If you're still looking when Autumn rolls around (and don't mind more pink), bump this thread and we'll talk. Hopefully your current plants are just taking their time at surfacing. :) Good Luck....See MoreVaporvac Z6-OhioRiverValley
