So much is our mind's desire to see pattern. I see a guy in the bark of the tree on the far right doing a scream a la Munch's piece, but it's just shades of dark and light.

After your hint I thought it was a camera (like Africam). Before that I was convinced it was a deer (red circle), and I do think the thing in the blue circle looks like a crouching kangaroo. Don't know why anyone would want to wear a sniper costume for Halloween.

Yes, Snookums2, that's the bird I saw. It does look like a frog in the upper left, too. I think the long legs are connected to a lizard of some sort, the body is vertical above the legs. You can barely make out his head just right of your green circle. Rusty

I've always heard that some animals don't see color (hence deer hunters can wear neon orange without being spotted), so it's movement and scent that give away an animal's location. In that case, the pattern of an animal's hide, prey or predator, would help, as long as the patterns blend in with natural elements (leaves, grass, tree bark). Predators instinctively stay low and move stealthily--prey animals instinctively hide or stay alert when exposed, so maybe instincts tell them where to hang out. I've wondered why rosy maple moths are pretty pink and yellow, instead of the gray of the maple tree bark, like other moths. A rosy is easy to spot, until it makes its way up the tree trunk to the twig ends where the fringey reddish/greenish flowers are starting to develop into reddish/greenish schizocarps. How some animals perceive color.
