Grout or caulk where tile meets wall?

I'm in the midst of a full bathroom renovation. We are putting in a fully tiled wall (floor to ceiling) behind the vanity. In the corners where the tile meets drywall my contractors want to put in caulk along the corner (it will match the grout) but my designer/consultant is saying to not caulk--only grout. The line of tile in the corner is not perfectly straight--will grout alone cover the imperfection? What is the purpose of caulk in that corner?
