off centered window - what to do?
Comments (7)Thanks. No, I cannot exchange the pole since it is not new but perhaps I can use the long black pole I used on the sliding glass door in a previous house. Thanks. The window is dinky anyway and the view is nothing to look at - the garbage cans and the driveway with my car. So from the outside the window will look the same with the white blinds but from the inside I could have the drapes almost fill the wall. No pictures yet as the room is still filled with boxes, etc. and I still have to paint the walls. I should do a before and after photo shoot because it will be a HUGE transformation. Thanks. Also any inexpensive ideas to hide garbage cans? The space behind the gate is too narrow to ft the cans and still walk by. They are most convenient on the front drive but not attractive. I don't have to worry about HOAs or neighbors since this is not that type of area. The guy across the street has a rooster and there are lots of horses n the neighborhood. A guy was driving a tractor carrying a bale of hay last week. And someone else was riding his horse down the street. It sounds so country yet I am less than a mile from a large grocery store, close to a main road, and not far from 2 freeways. I will start with pictures once I get more settled. Thanks....See MoreOff center DR pendant light - What to do?
Comments (26)Thank you all so much for your thoughts. I do need to keep the sideboard where it is. However, I forgot to mention that I will be painting it the same colour as the wall, and will be back painting the glass in the doors to hided the stuff inside. The room will look less cramped and busy. I tried moving the table to be centered under the light, and taking away the end chairs to do so. It looks quite crammed down at one end of the area when I do that. So I don't think I will do that. In reading your comments, I am reminded that I need to keep access to the current location (per my original electrician). So I will need to cover with an electrical plate, and not patch it to cover over. I think I will pay to have it moved in order to keep the simple, clean minimalist lines of the light fixture....See MoreWhat to do with an off centre wall bump-out
Comments (8)A tension rod like this one should fit between the 2 cabinets. Most home decorating fabric is 54" wide and to me it looks as if your bed is a double which is 54" wide. So one width of the fabric is perfect if it is something like a drapery fabric and you do it like the striped example I showed above. If you don't sew, you can buy iron-down tape to turn the edges under, and to make the pocket for the top. Or even just cut off the edges even with the pattern, and use pins or staples to make the pocket. Especially if you use a patterned fabric, the focus will be on the pattern and not the details. Easy peasy, inexpensive and no holes in the walls....See MoreHelp!! What do I do with this wall? Off center window in bedroom
Comments (4)I'd just use a very simple roman shade that blends with your wall color. Then place a piece of art above the left side of the headboard. Drapes that need to be opened and closed aren't very functional behind a bed and dresser....See Morenellanybor
