Comments (41)I've had two bad haircuts in my lifetime - 3rd and 12th grades. Both times, stylist took my long hair and I was left looking like a boy. I asked for it the first time, but not the last. Then, I skipped school and got suspended for three days. I still got to go to DisneyWorld with my BF's and his family for Spring Break, so all was not lost. I will never have short hair again. As you can see, it's comical (or frightening?!) how similar my kindergarten and senior hairstyles look. Rest assured there were long, straight looks in between (remember the 70s). I tried to grow it out recently but it ends up too flat. No matter how hard I try to make it a bit poofy with my round brush (I despise hair gels and sprays). I started getting gray hair when I was a senior in HS, and like the above poster I go every three weeks for a slight trim and color. Recently I asked her to start making it lighter since my roots were showing up so bad (at 3 weeks!!!!). I'm not even 55 yet, so I am not ready to go gray... she tells me (I won't look) that I am easily 80% gray - I think she's being generous!). So while I still feel like a brunette, I am slowing becoming more blonde. :( The photo on the right was taken before we went a tad lighter. My hair does not want to hold color. It is very frustrating! I come out one color and easily have 5 shades between visits. I'd love to do something different, but nothing drastic. Comments (11)Box sealing tape is OK but the silver miracle, aka duct tape is far better. Pat with it, don't rub it. And don't pet the cats with it, pat them if yer gonna. I've heard the suggestion to use rubber gloves for furniture and the like, but it seems usually you need to have a firm backing for brushing it off. So put the clothes on and give each other a massage maybe? Or use the tape and play police officer and frisk each other. Duct tape works as an adequate substitute for handcuffs, as I'm sure you well-know. Come to think of it I used to have one of those brushes that you'd brush one direction, then brush in the other direction to empty the brush out. One style had the head of the unit slide back and forth on the handle for left or right hand use, one style was just the head part itself and another was on a pivoting head. It worked well. Comments (25)Thanks for responding Tami. I don't like to put anyone on the spot or sound demanding. Thanks Stacy, I did not know that about them having peroxide in them. I've Googled and Googled and get conflicting writing. Some say Cello is for vibrant color and some say it is subtle. Some say cover gray and some say it will take to gray differently than the rest of the hair. The sales people are no help even in the professional retail outlets. I had one experience with Cellophane in a salon in the 80s. The hairdresser and I communicated well. The owner came over and tried to tell her she was doing it all wrong and to make a long story short my hair came out Ronald McDonald orange instead of burgundy. The hairdresser seemed irked with the owner and was mum about it. I was horrified with the results but the owner insisted it was perfect. I went back to complain since my job told me they were going to fire me unless I got rid of it (as if I liked it any better than they did). They couldn't get it all out and tried numerous things. I had faded dull orange hair until it grew out. Despite that experience, I was thinking that if I did it myself I could do a good job of it. I just want the gray to blend in better and I thought a translucent color would do it. I tried researching it. Comments (16)I've had a travel size ConAir 1600 for a zillion years -- two speeds/temps. It must be 20 years old. I use it until my hair is just lightly damp. I don't know the terminology for the other implement I use. Remember Vidal Sassoon? That's the brand! This is a 'stick' that blows hot/warm air through a hard plastic curler barrel at one end. I'm too clumsy to manage a dryer in one hand and a round styling brush in the other! Since both of these contribute to drying, it's hard to judge the lifespan of either one. Also, I only shampoo every five days or so. Chin-length hairstyle. I prefer the blow dryer at the condo because it is *quiet*. It's larger than my home blow dryer.
