Comments (9)I've been growing Grand Dame since she came out, I think 2011. I pruned her pretty severely this year, but she's already 6 ft tall. At this point her canes aren't flopping anymore but they do gently arch. The blooms still nod (have weak necks) but I find them very charming. The rose blooms hang down like ruffled skirts. She's very very fragrant, just like you would imagine a rose should smell like. Reminds me of a rose scented talc powder my mother wore....See MoreWhy you should buy Grande Dame!!

Comments (31)Carol, I hope that you will get a chance to try it. I will get you a pic when it blooms this spring. This rose has been through alot and I am surprised that it is still alive. I planted it as a bareroot in late May when the weather was like mid 80F. Not a great start for it but it grew modestly and gave me a few blooms. Then it started leafing out early this spring and the foliage got zapped by the freeze. I thought it was a goner but four new basal breaks appeared in April and it is now showing 4 buds. I remember the blooms were very colorfast and unaffected by heat. I will have to see how it performs this year and compare it to its parent with respect to flower production, its repeat and get back to you with that info....See Morerosecanadian
