Sears Ultra Plus Powder detergent is surprisingly Good!!
Comments (10)Even better. I had some itching in the leg area in the evening when still in my sweats or terry bathrobe when using either Ariel or Tide. Thought thought that it was just a "natural" happening. Tried the Sears blue box & no itching but thought nothing of it. Did the Tide "Free & Clear" & got the itching back again! "Free & Clear"!!!???? Using the Sears Orange box now & NO Itching allergies. Don't know what is in Tide Free & Clear as it definitely NOT totally free & clear enough & something in the both Ariel & Tide Free & Clear but will not go back. Do wonder what ingredient was causing the sometimes itch as the itch doesn't occur frequently enough or create a rash to say that it was a allergy. Could be "coincidence" but better safe to stay with the Sears detergent....See MoreDetergents And Fading Clothes
Comments (26)sshrivastava, Agreed! On the topic of fading clothes. I made a big boo boo! Used some Ariel Bajaespuma powder mixed with pure oxy clean (my purchase from the Chemistry Store) on my sons work clothes. Blacks and red t-shirts. Results were not noticeable to the black items except for minimal white shadows, I believe from the optical brighteners. The red t-shirts well.... major white shadowing on large areas! I will rewash in the Tide Total Care to see if it helps fix my mess! I should have known!! Why, oh, why don't I stick to what works! It's like trying out a new science experiment?! Temptation is so evil! Do not attempt this at home folks.... you WILL be sorry!...See MoreDetergent residue in cloths with Kenmore HE3t and Tide HE
Comments (14)A front loading washer made my life EASIER, not harder! I wouldn't ever go back to a top loader. You have to learn how to use them correctly, just like any new item. But I guess it all depends on whether a person makes the choice to learn how to use their appliances to get the most efficiency out of them. I have no idea why you would think that using a tablespoon of detergent to clean a load is silly. The formulation of detergents in this day and age allow for decreased amounts of detergent. Top loaders use 1/4 to 1/2 the amount that was recommended even 10 years ago. A person used to have to use a LARGE scoop for a regular load-- and the economy sized box of detergent couldn't even be lifted without help! I am sure there are plenty of others on this forum that remember those days :) Please tell me how it is common sense that not enough water is used to rinse properly? If you had researched front loaders and followed the instructions properly, you would find that the decreased amount of water actually rinses MUCH better than a whole tub load of water. That is because the water is forced through the fabic as the drum tumbles and take the soap with it as it does. Compare it to rinsing your driveway off with a hose-- if you don't use a nozzle, the water just runs over the pavement but doesn't rinse it too well but if you use a high pressure nozzle, the dirty water is pushed off of the pavement. I love my FL and love the money I have saved all the way around by using it-- and that doesn't include my time and energy!...See MoreBest Laundry Detergent for kids dirty camp clothes
Comments (15)Hi again gabbycannon! For years and years, we had Miele and they used to always say only use powdered detergent!! Also, when I got my first front load washing machine in the USA, 1995 (Frigidaire), the manual said to ONLY use powdered detergent. I have used liquid detergent in all my Miele units, and in my past Elux 70 Series and now in my current 60 Series. NO issues at all with liquids, but I wash almost primarily with HOT water, and every 30 days I do a Clean Machine Cycle with either bleach or a packet of Tide Washing Machine Cleaner (I love the scent). No issues with any buildup, mold or mildew ever!! That being said, I always feel safer using powdered detergent. I generally find them less sudsing, especially on Hot and longer cycles. Also, I find powdered detergent rinses easier and quicker than liquid detergent. Besides from glass cleaning towels and Microfiber towels, I always use a little fabric softener. Downy, Snuggle or Miele Care are my favs. Since I almost always wash with Hot water and do a Clean Machine Cycle each month....I have never had, nor worry about Softener buildup or gunk. My machines have always looked and smelled brand new. Even when having my past Miele units services, the Miele tech said the insides of my machine did not have one speck of buildup, slime, mold or mildew!!! Laundry w/o softener is not my fav! I keep a box of Bounce or Downy dryer sheets in stock, but only use them once in a while for sheets or linens/blankets. I find with regular use, you will notice a little film building up on the lint screen of the dryer. No big deal...every few months just wash the lint screen with hot soapy water, let dry and it's like brand new! I think the Original Outdoor Fresh Bounce dryer sheets smell fantastic...so clean and nostalgic to me. Bounce also makes Boune Bursts, in wash scent pellets & they smell EXACTLY like bounce sheets!!...See Moresashanikki
