Whats wrong with my rose bush?
Comments (4)Looks sunburnt to me. We had that heat wave right when everything had pushed out a lot of tender new foliage--the plants couldn't take it. I think your plant will be okay there, but I'd rig up some temporary shade to get it through our next heat wave due Tues-Friday....See MoreWhat's wrong with my Earth Angel Rose bush leaves?
Comments (16)Yes KS I agree, it's been a month since I've done the bayer disease control, as it was treated once at the beginning of the season, and the Epsom salts haven't been given for two weeks. The 1 tbsp per gallon wasn't given to just the EA plant; the gallon was spread between 8 potted roses as a foliar feed. Is that too high for a foliar spray anyway? Should one only use a teaspoon for a foliar spray? Just curious if that may have been too high a formula for a foliar spray? I haven't done much to my Heirloom roses since their instructions say to let it be. I was certainly suspecting the rain, or wondering if it actually needed something since it's pretty much been left alone besides the epsom salt. I will say we had 90 degree weather in May which is unusual and then went to cool 60's and constant rain. Very irregular weather. Thanks for your help as I agree with letting it be for now. The yellow leaves are spreading throughout the bush today and hopefully when it stops raining it will get better. I think I may block the rain from the bush in an effort to ease its maladies sooner. I do have two EA's potted up and they have both been treated the same way. The other one does not have any issues though even with the rain, so it's definitely a mystery to me....See MoreWhat's wrong with my mom's Twilight Zone rose bush?
Comments (6)Thank you all for your input! I told my mom about the watering and the shade and she said she'll do it. Karen, the rose is new. We got it this year. But it grew like crazy and was blooming in no time. My mom was actually a little surprised. The TZ was growing and blooming better than some of our older roses. My apologies for the pictures. I'm not the best photographer. As for the soil drying out in between waterings, I wasn't quite as clear as I should've been. I typed this post after several hours of mind-numbing calculus homework (I'm not the best at math). Anyways, they don't wait for it to be 100% dry before watering again. My apologies for not being clear about that. I think I might go back and edit my original post to fix that. They water them in the early evening. We have a lot of mosquitos because of a retention pond that's really close to our house so my parents try to get out and water them before Our roses were fine last summer so that's why we're a little perplexed. Only the TZ is unhappy. All of our roses get the same amount of sun and the same watering schedule but four out of five are doing great. Two of them seem like they might have gone dormant or something like that but they still look happy and healthy. Is the TZ a more...sensitive kind of rose? I don't know if that's necessarily the right word, but it's the only one that I can come up with at the moment. Thanks again for the help. I really appreciate it!...See MoreWhat's wrong with my rose bush?
Comments (6)Bec , are you in a very hot climate ? Your brown leaves remind me of when I left band pots on the concrete and the sun really did a number on them . Or maybe you sprayed with an oil ?...See MoreUser
