Comments (151)YEAH....I got my bear fixed!!! I don't think he likes his body parts it took 2 attempts to repair him! Wendy, I think I decovered something even Gorilla glue won't stick too! The parts fell off on the first attempt and the Gorilla glue AFTER DRIED peeled right off! BUT he is NOW on my tree! (He is made out of polymer or resin, and he parts were individual pieces so there was no harm in them coming off in the first place, no cracks to have to conceal.) Bunny, cute kids. I like Adoras shirt! I don't blame William. I wouldn't want to stand with or have my pic taken with santa either at his age, if I was a boy that is. Hope you don't make him do it next year. He is a BOY for goodness sake, boys don't like that Bunny dear! However, the girls will prolly be willing to do it until they are married off...lol. I think the last time I sat on Santa's lap I was 15...HEY, I HAD a LIST he needed!!! lol. (Never, did get that car!) You getting plently of rest girly? You need to! Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday. Hello Dan, how's your chocolate stash? Linda the tea is lovely, a splash more Bailey's please, this time without the tea bath please...lol. :) Fran...See MorePush has come to shove - I need to make a decision asap!
Comments (11)I'm also thinking that an accent colour is not the way to go. I'd go a few shades darker than the Navajo on the walls. Although you describe it as creamy it looks like it has a hint of greyish green in it in the pic - that is what I'm thinking of only darker. You have to think how it is going to play off the brick in the wood box as well as the stone hearth. But I'm with maryk, I love the way it looks as is. Your whole house is a fave of mine. It is chockful of character and just gorgeous....See MoreWedding … cake!
Comments (9)Here in Texas, it is common to have a groom's cake and I'd bet 9 times out of 10 it is chocolate sheet or sometimes a sculpted cake reflecting a hobby, profession or such while the "bride's cake" is most commonly a traditional tiered white cake, updated tiered, cupcake tower -- sometimes a carrot, spice or fruit cake with white or pastel tinted icing. If white cake is used, it is common to use a lemon, strawberry or raspberry filling between the layers. My first thought would be to do a tiered cake with piped icing designs that reflect Australia, England and, possibly, the US. Might depend on your friend's artistry and willingness to explore and play with some ideas, but it could be as simple as taking the Union Jack and piping the crossing lines and stars in different variations on the different tiers. The shape of the Sydney Opera House, boomerangs, Aboriginal designs, crowns, roses, tea cups -- whatever it was that had them both in Australia might be a theme, but playing with that inspirations in an understated way that creates an updated and personal, but still elegant and traditional cake. You can also use fruits, nuts and flowers that are traditional in the different countries -- Let making things special be fun, not a burden. With a year, your venue is probably the only pressing matter, and even that will depend somewhat on how flexible you are on timing (I've had to book some banquet halls near popular wedding times. Focus on that and everything else will fall in line, I enjoyed planning my wedding with mom. Not being able to do the same with a daughter of my own is one of the things I will miss most in having only sons. Enjoy it....See MoreChocolate
Comments (18)Thanks annie. The strawberries were a little difficult and nerve-racking since I have never made them before. But I'm glad to report that the tower made it to the reception, and would have made it to the official cake cutting had it not been for a little unsupervised rugrat who couldnt have been older than 3 or 4 , who ran by me as dinner was being served, a donut in each hand and one in her mouth. (Definitely from the brides side of the family) lol. O well, at least she snitched them from the back of the cake, so they still got some nice pictures with it before it was devoured. I was surprised at how many donuts I used. 9 dozen, and that only covered 3 tiers. I was grateful that I thought to grab some donut holes for that 4th tier on the way to pay for them,or I would have been in trouble. I also made WAY to many strawberries. I had about 3 dozen left, and the wedding planner was adamantly against me setting up a separate platter for them, so I just took them home before the reception started. Funnily enough they were the first thing to go and the guests were asking if there were any more. Oh well. They will probably end up in the trash, but it was a learning experience. I learned not to wear what you plan to wear to the party when you are making a donut cake, especially if what youre wearing is light pink, because you will be covered in chocolate and will have to go change. I also learned that donuts officially beat out cupcakes in dessert preference, especially for kiddos. And I learned not to ask for a to go box, because the restaurant staff will look at you funny, even if you are the favorite sister of the groom,a now expert donut cake maker, and electric slide queen. Yes, definitely bringing my own tupperware to the next one. Lol....See Moremorz8 - Washington Coast
