Need to order appliances soon - can't decide
Comments (16)I looked at the Bosch, but it does not have convection in both ovens. I won't use the ovens every day, but when I bake, I like to bake big! I really hate having to wait an hour for the apple pie to get done before I can bake the custard - or not being able to fit 10 small loaves of quick bread in the oven at one time. From a cost standpoint, I can't even justify paying $3,000 for ovens when I have one that works just fine that is paid for and only 6 years old. I made it 30 years and raised two kids on home cooked meals without ever owning a range that cost over $600. A double wall oven will not add a dime to the value of my home either - but I saved for a year so I could afford to get the induction cooktop and double wall oven. But I think I'm going to get the Electrolux units. I keep thinking I should get the KA but I'm just not as comfortable with that decision. I like the looks of the KA better, but I am worried about reliablity. For that reason I'd rather not order the appliances online, but if i get them locally the KA ends up costing the same as the Electrolux, and I believe the Electrolux are better. I'm way more excited about getting the induction cooktop, and if I could find a slide in range I remotely liked I would probably go that route. I just worn out by it all and don't want to have to think about it anymore LOL! Cathy...See MoreAm I retiring my current furnace too soon?
Comments (6)jim what is your location? generally speaking, I don't like the idea of replacing something that still works. while your current furnace is only thirteen years old, it should have plenty of life left. I do not know the cost of the circuit board you replaced and consider that repair inconsequential as long as there are no other problems/issues with the furnace. having said that, homeowners have a rare opportunity to take advantage of the Fed Govt HVAC tax credit of up to $1500. It is not likely that you would qualify for the tax credit purchasing a new AC without a matching VS air handler or furnace. This is your decision. Perhaps the tax credit is unimportant to you as well as the high eff condensers/furnaces. I find the Lennox pricing on the high side and suggest you shop around. Comments (5)I have a Blanco Silgranit Sink in Anthracite (black). Love it. Yesterday it was looking a little worn, so I rubbed mineral oil on it. Looks brand new. Doesn't scratch. Seems pretty indestructable. I use my sink a lot. I had originally planned on getting a stainless sink but the ones that I see look pretty bad after awhile. I was very happy to discover my sink on this forum. KA:)...See MoreSkylights in a Pantry, I need to decide soon!
Comments (37)bpath, our builder likes the Velux skylights and has installed hundreds. Not so keen on the Solotubes for some reason. I will research them. Thank you. morz8, since I am deleting the 2 pantry skylights and 2 of the hall skylights, I may opt for the more expensive Velux skylight with a solar powered shade for my kitchen 4 X 4 skylight. I do worry about fading my maple cabinets. Doug, thanks for the reassurance on Velux skylights. I do love natural light! Mrs Pete, thanks for the door recommendation. As to the charging station, it is where we want it, between our entry point (garage) and the main part of the house so it will be used as we plan to use it. A good place for my purse, mail, all our gadgets, etc. girlwithaponytail, we are in Sandia Park. This year has been an exceptional year so far with precipitation. Of course that's when we are building! The rain started in October and the snow in December. Not a typical year here! As to the skylights, our builder has never had issues with them and carefully installs them even on a flat roof....See More- 9 years ago
