Any hope for my towel?
Comments (6)The warmer the water the more risk of Oxygen Bleach fading. Unless your using a Oxygen Bleach product containing a activation system Oxygen Bleach is almost worthless in cold and cool water unless you allow a lot of time...even than I can't see any benefits to using Oxy in cool water as it won't activate. If you want any benefits to uding Oxy in cool water you need either powder Tide with Bleach or Persil for whites....even OxyClean has no activator....See MoreAny hope for my cucumber seedlings?
Comments (13)All these responses are correct, but I don't think anyone was explicit about what your problem was. Your plants in the picture are indeed enormously leggy, and yes, they are toast. Very long stem, with few leaves. That's precisely the result of insufficient light. They are in the window now because you understood they needed more light? Where were they before?? If you don't have bright lights shining on them, you need at least a few hours of direct sunlight. In fact, in Alberta, even direct sunlight will be from a low sun, and the light won't be as strong. Be aware that those small cups you're germinating in aren't good for more than a week or two after germination. Best to just plant in a larger pot. If treated right, they'll be OK for a month after germination in a standard 4" pot. Plant in those now, and they'll be ready to put outside at the end of May...See MoreIs there any hope for my echeveria?
Comments (4)Dominyka is right, do it asap since the rot could spread quickly. After you cut, keep checking the stem. If you still see some dark spots in tissue, you need to cut further. Keep cutting off thinner slices until only healthy flesh remains. Sterilize your cutting implement in-between the cuts with rubbing alcohol or wipe with towel moistened with bleach. Follow as she explained...You should get different potting mix. Try adding lots of sifted perlite, anywhere from 50 - 75% of total volume. And make sure any container you use has drainage hole....See MoreIs there any hope for my Meyer Lemon Tree? (Yellowing Leaves)
Comments (17)You could just leave them in the clay pot and place those clay pots into decorative plastic containers with holes as I do. John's right, I found that many of my trees did not perform well when nights got too cold in clay. They never rotted because I use a porous mix but they most certainly had growth issues during all the months but summer unless they were kept in a very warm room which I do not when they came in. Root rot is not caused from too much moisture, but from a lack of oxygen to the root zone which most heavy compacted mixes will prevent. If you are growing that tree in a very good mix that allows oxygen exchange and helps keep the roots warmer on cold nights it should recover..If you want to see an even faster recovery during the shorter days, provide extra lights and warm conditions...) Root rot can not be caused by just cold, but poorly oxygenated roots combined with cold which is why many use use a porous mix or a small pot just big enough for the root ball when using a high quality bagged mix.....See Moregardengal48 (PNW Z8/9)
