Thanks in advance for any help, suggestions, comments. My husband and I are remodeling an old house and the kitchen has a few obstacles: 5 doors (we want to keep all of them), a chimney that sticks out 21.25 inches, a big window and a radiator under it (want to keep also), and need a place for 3x3 table (no dining room). The trim is oringal red oak with a amber natural finish and the floor is more plain natural wood. I have been to a few kitchen cabinets stores and I just need another opinion to make sure everything is functional in the design. Some verification with the cabinet color would be great too. I am thinking of going with Lowe's Diamond Prelude, Halston maple square, Nectar w/ ebony glaze or possibly MidContinent Princeton. Not sure which cabinet maker is better. The design link is below. The main question of the design is the cabinet in front of the chimney, keep it for extra storage or take it away because too problematic. One more thing, I am thinking black appliances because have two young boys and stainless steal it too expensive for our budget. I will have to post two times because of pic sizes. Image link:

If your photo or photos are elevations drawings only, not an overhead view with dimensions, that's won't get you as much useful feedback. We can comment on looks but without knowing how large aisles are, what cab sizes are, etc, we can't provide detailed feedback. Thanks Ramses, but my DH vetoed anything brown or tan immediately...he doesn't like brown walls. I know, there are different kinds of browns and tans, but at this point I don't want to argue over, I mean discuss :-), it anymore. I was also thinking of a gray, but thought that would be too close to the black/white I'm known for. I want color! So, we decided to go with the Cornsilk in the Kitchen & DR and Wedgewood Gray in the FR and, I think, the LR. My DH is out buying the paint as I type! The color opinions here & on the Home Decorating Forum were split about equally...half for Cornsilk/half for Wedgewood. We decided to go w/our original plans b/c, as David123 said, it's easy enough to change it if we don't like it...or if after this foray into color I get bolder and want deeper/different colors! I'm taking baby steps here...! BTW...I did call a couple of BM stores near us and neither had color consultants any more other than the store staff. They both told me they discontinued the consultants...didn't really get a good answer why. So, what does everyone think about A TP holder w/room for extra rolls and a similar one for towels that are recessed into the wall OR A stand for TP in the corner in front of the toilet & towel rack for towel hung over the toilet OR A TP holder mounted on the wall in front of the toilet (sides are too tight) and a towel rack above it OR Something else all together?

Gamecock43, If you love Glazed, get it. Offering glaze for free is only free if you really want it. Visit a few more cabinet makers and get a feel for what makes your heart sing. Get what you love and you will be able to negogiate a free something or a discount. In fact start thinking about free upgraded plywood drawers. You are so wise to check out the options for yourself. I am not an IKEA fan. Oh dear, I just unleashed the hounds who love IKEA. IKEA looks beautiful and IKEA is rated high in consumers reports but like your husband I have found the service to be unhelpful. The warehoue mentality. If you are close to an IKEA (I am not) you can get exactly what you want IKEA can be awesome. I truly believe your husband was not ill tempered or even the cause of the poor service at IKEA. I have felt the poor service and I consider myself to be a kind person so assume others will be too. Not the case for my DH and I at IKEA. I urge people to look for a cabinet maker or woodworker who can help you make any brand cabinets look great in your space. Someone to make the trim, edges and help fit those cabinets into a space to make a kitchen. Crystal cabs are my favorite but next for me Thomasville, Kraftmade, Yorktowne, Schuler or Medallion ( I think are the same company), ...In time you will find the ones you like.
