Maybe consider using the bench as actual seating at the table along the wall and then put a chair on each end of the table. The goal would to have 3' for a traffic area so that area between the peninsula and the table. If you can't get 3' for passage I would eliminate the peninsula and then you could put a deeper/taller pantry cabinet beside the fridge so the fridge doesn't appear to stick out so far.

The space past the cooktop peninsula is open hallway allowing for a walking area between the kitchen, entryway, backdoor off the kitchen and dining room on the other side of that hallway. As you stand at the peninsula, you can see the dining room. We were looking at a downdraft ventilation system for the cooktop as I do not like the large vents above the cooktop. I do get what you are saying though with the walkway being in the path of the kitchen triangle. Short of moving the window, is there any other viable place you can think of moving the cooktop to? I think I would be okay with a vent above the cooktop if the cooktop was right against a wall and not in the peninsula. Thank you!

Added dimensions for reference I will probably move the pantry wall back 6" in next iteration, i'll add the sink, i put the refirgerator where it was to be more "triangular" ?, Amy, i do need the separate table, the formal dining room is going away and becoming an office, thats why we are able to push the wall back, considering I may be able to push it further back even to give a little more room.

I see several comments about getting new doors but I priced that out a few years ago and it wasn’t so budget friendly. If you really love the wood and all else is o.k. then I’d consider it. My kitchen is partially demolished (replaced tile floor with wood) but the gross old oak uppers with cathedral style arched doors are still there. Don’t paint because it will still look dated. I’ve had charcoal cabinets sitting boxed in my house and garage for a year now (COVID delay) with a shaker style door that has a single cove inside. The factory paint finishes are so much better than home paint jobs, don’t be afraid of them. Although my layout can’t change (too much structural work and the adjacent open laundry room is also getting redone along with the nearby powder room) I did myself a huge favor and now have all drawers below countertops! It will make my life so much easier. We ended up going with Thomasville cabinets that we purchased on sale at Home Depot. They are a quality product outside of the custom realm. I could easily spend 75K on the kitchen alone but it wouldn’t pay since we will probably move in the next 5 to 10 yrs. Again, don’t be afraid of painted cabinets and shop around. My sister did a budget friendly remodel using Cabinets To Go, her navy is gorgeous. Lighter counters and backsplash will do wonders too. Good luck!
