Seeded glass hides the sockets and makes a nicer look. And if it reduces brightness, there's a simple solution. Put in a brighter bulb!

It really does make a difference in the sample house you posted. It would run from the left side of the house, over the garage doors, little porch area, over the first floors windows and then ends at the right side of the house? I really like that idea. K Laurence and Decoenthusiast, I agree, however, we listed our house, expecting it to sit a while and it sold in 2 days. Our rental has fallen through and our timeframe for remaining in the area lengthened longer than anticipated. We have a trusted contractor who can supposedly do it all in 2 months (fingers crossed!!!!). These are both really nice neutrals that my work nice with your cabinets, floor and countertops...I would paint the island Hale Navy It is a beautiful blue that looks great on cabinets. Congratulations on your new home! This is one of my favorite lights for the price....

Thank you all for your insightful comments and thoughts regarding our exterior gas light!! i have to agree that while i like the verdigris green the dark bronze would allow for more options on our door and window trim color. As some have also stated the dark bronze would also tie in with our cast iron steps, iron fencing, and the lantern‘s mounting hardware. Although the lantern is not a classic victorian light fixture we are extremely limited on our choices since the gas line has to run up from the basement to the RIGHT of our front door (when facing the door from the street). Unfortunately this was the only gas lantern with specs that would accommodate the more narrow width (see pic). I’ve also included a pic of the latern installed on another house for additional perspective.
