Goof off, baby oil. Put a couple drops on it and let it sit. The tape and residue should come of with some gentle scraping.

Of course, only do this if it is glazed ceramic. If it's not, don't try that since the oil will soak in.

I do what Dees does, but I use vegetable or olive oil and let it set a few hours or overnight. It's how I remove labels from jars.

I use plain old, ordinary ammonia. Not a lot, just enough to get the tape off. I'd probably use a bit on a Q-tip and rub.

Someone who had experienced this problem in his workplace, said to remove tape residue with a piece of the same tape. I don't know if it would work after using other products on it but I watched him use the method successfully with duct tape.

Wd40 works too. And surprisingly enough hair spray!

oil, vinegar or rubbing alcohol work well removing glue residue. Not sure about masking tape glue specifically as I never use it anymore because of having had so much difficulty getting it off of surfaces in the past.

Mineral spirits

Thanks, all! I put some vegetable oil on a paper towel and placed it over the masking tape for a few hours. Came back and could easily wipe the top layer of the tape off. Put the same towel back over for a few more hours, and the final residue wiped right off. No scrubbing, no staining. Thank you!

I had stubborn glue residue the other day. Rubbing alcohol usually wipes it off but it remained sticky and smudged around. Put a little olive oil on a paper towel and it wiped right off immediately! No need to purchase goo gone or other potent removal products.

A lot of times you can just freeze it and adhesives come off. Also soaking it in water and applying dish soap often works well.

Hah, Cynic had the right idea. I always wrap my meats in foil, and a strip of masking tape to write on. The masking tape never sticks when the meat and foil is cold.

The very first thing I had tried was soaking it in water and dish soap. It had no effect. The second thing I tried was asking the KT for suggestions and then using one of them. Success:)

One of my projects now is removing labels. A quick wipe with some oil then clean that off good with rubbing alcohol. Takes no time at all.
