Need help choosing range hood and where to end glass back splash
Comments (8)It looks like the Imperial 42" is the favorite. It is funny that most of my "inspiration" pictures have a similarly shaped hood, since I saved those images in my "backsplash" folder to try to help my choose the BS height (i.e., I didn't intentionally choose those pictures for the hood). The voting for BS height is mixed, with the majority so far choosing the 8' height. The image above with the tall gray glass BS is from the Smallbones catalog -- I love that look -- makes me wish I could have gone "topless." I think I prefer the taller glass BS, but I'm not sure how to overcome the technical difficulties with the chinmey extending beyond the glass. The glass and wall above will be painted the same color so the line will not be a strong contrast like most of the images above, although the shine factor will obviously be very different....See MoreEnding tile..., but where? Need opinions plz.
Comments (14)GWlolo: Here is an image of how the 6" tile runs under the pass through openings and then transitions up to 18" under the upper cab on the sink wall. Imagine printing out this image and cutting out the two walls and taping them together at the corner cause I cannot draw anything but 2D in paint, sorry :( If the tile ran just corner to corner on the sink wall, then what is under the pass throughs and also the 18" area on the pass through wall in the right corner? Wouldn't it be disjointed to stop the tile at the corner and have a whole other finish on the bs of the stove wall? Have to say I'm not feeling that at all... I do appreciate your input and maybe when you see this image you'll get a clearer view of what I'm trying to figure out here...sorry for the crappy renderings... that doesn't help, I'm sure....See Moresmall bath remodel - need help where to begin/end mosiac tile
Comments (3)thank you..here's the border tiles,,, if I take the top row of tile over the toilet, there's a bit of a gap (1/4 inch) between the backsplash and the tile over toilet so I can't do a perfect border of mosiac tile over the backspash to over the tile. I'm kind of at a loss of what to do except add possibly a row of pencil tile to compensate for the gap, here's the gaphere's the other wall where we removed outdated border tilehere's new bathroom vanity top, We painted the oak cabinet gray. We are now at a standstill as to what to do with the tile...See MoreNeed help with backsplash, where do we end it?
Comments (8)I wouldn't take the tile up to the vaulted ceiling even though it would look fine. It's a lot of work and you wouldn't get enough bang out of it to make it worthwhile. Usually the tile goes to the bottom of the hood but I've seen photos where it goes part way up the hood and that looks nice too. I would bring it a few inches above the door pull on the left, about midway of the hood section. I think it'd look really nice with a different colored pencil liner capping it there--much better than putting the liner at the base of the hood. What color is your liner? I'd do beadboard above the butcher block. I really like how it's mixed with ceramic tile here to create a variety of textures:...See Moreblackcats13
