How long does it take for a goat to grow up?
Comments (18)Snycal, my brother's girlfriend's cousin had Reese and they could no longer care for him and I had always wanted a goat, so they sold him to me for $20. So, that's how I got him. The girl we got him from said she saw his parents and that they weren't real big. I carried him to the vet when I first got him and they said he was 10 pounds. He hasn't been to the vet since, but I just think he probably weighs about 25 pounds, because he doesn't feel as heavy as my neice and she is about 35 pounds. He feels a little less heavy than her, so I'm only guessing he is about 25 pounds. I would love to see pictures of your goat. I tried yesterday to post my newest picture of Reese, but when I tried using the tinypic.com web-site it wouldn't work for me?.. Genny...See MoreAnyone grow Laurus nobilis..bay laurel?
Comments (15)lov2cook...by standardizing I meant that I trained the laurel to basically look like a tree. This is GW's definition of standard: standard (syn. banner) 1. A plant with a strong vertical stem, particularly one that would not normally grow that way; a vine or shrub trained as a tree with a single trunk and a more or less spherical top. 2. Uppermost, usually erect, petals of some flowers; the upper dilated petal of a papilionaceous corolla. They do it regularly with roses although they use grafting to create the tree affect. I have also seen it done with hydranga, wisteria and a plant that has yellow daisy-like flowers (can't remember the name of it right now). I have also in the past standardized a japanese willow that had a more bush-like structure. It is very easy to do with a laurel since they usually sell them with one strong central stem. Comments (2)Oh yeah, I forgot to say... Many types of fruit trees are almost always propagated vegetatively (cuttings, grafted trees, etc). Most apples for instance are unlikely to produce good fruit when grown from seed. Are you only interested in seed grown trees or are you just trying to find out how long it will take for you to grow your own fruit?...See MoreHow long does it take to grow a Mango in Newport Beach to fruiting?
Comments (2)The NB Mango seems too small for grafted. Further looking at it..the leafs dont seem Manila- the smallest Mango sold. So,I would guess its a seedling of a supermarket mango planted in 2010 or very early 2011- to be 18" by May 2011. I've seen some soucal Mangoes on Google, loaded with fruits. Most are the smaller types- but who's complaining when its 200 fruits? Check out 3196 Gibraltar Ave. in Costa Mesa on Google maps. Its not the only one..I haven't bookmarked others around. And Parker..since they can fruit pretty young..a Mango lover could always plant multiple tree's. I'm looking at my 4' Papaya with fruit. 5 so far. Well,If I had planted a row of them like that- say 20 or 30 ,plenty of fruit. Like who plants one Cornstalk? Its how you do things in a cooler climate-lol....See Morekentrees12
