Comments (4)Thunder and lightning skirted the horizon for a couple of hours last evening. Around nine-ish, the storms decided to meander over to us and park on top of us. For about five or so hours, we got one of the most fabulous lightning shows I have seen in a while. Oh, and it dropped a goodly amount of rain. Nothing approaching flood levels, but enough to know everything got a good drink. Droplets of water still cling to the grass and the plants. Rather strange after getting used to dust coating everything. We were without power until this morning, but that only enhanced the enjoyment of the show. Sitting in the dark watching the lightning illuminate everything in a freeze frame sort of way. Pictures at Exhibition type scenes. It's still oppressively hot and humid....See MoreWhen/How to Start Chili Peppers (Bhut Jolokia) in FL, Zone 10a
Comments (3)I start mine in November indoors, plant out on 3/1. And the 2nd season started a couple weeks ago, and I started mine outside so I dont have to go through hardening off the plant. I think you'd be fine to start some now, you might not harvest any before winter, but your plant will have a good size and be ready for spring. Its easy to over-winter the plant in our climate, just bring the plant inside on nights that we have a frost warning. Although that would be difficult with a 30 gallon container. For the peppers that I leave in the ground over-winter, I just cover them with hay at night....See Morerecommendations for electric range
Comments (0)I just purchased a new KitchenAid free standing electric range. The outside surfaces of the range get hot enough to severely burn skin when the oven is in normal use. I am seeking recommendations on any free standing electric ranges that do not get so very hot on the outside surfaces when the oven is in use. I am finding that new ranges I have researched seem to have this same issue but are within UL standards. My 10 year old Kenmore electric range did not get too hot on the outside surfaces during normal use, just warm to the touch....See MoreTook just a few today, then it was too hot to be outside.
