Help choosing a refrigerator - need website with good specs
Comments (2)Thank you. What is confusing the *&^%$ out of me is that most 20-21 CF fridges have a width of about 32.5". Most 18 CF fridges have a width of about 29.5". This leads me to believe that these are made to fit in the standard kitchen design allotment of space of 30 or 33," which match perfectly to the standard sizes of the "over the fridge" cabinets which are 30 and 33" for my size kitchen. HOWEVER, when you actually look at the manufacuters install instructions, they claim that you need 1/2" of space on each side of the fridge, as opposed to the 1/4" that you are given. It's very confusing to me. I am scared that the 32.5" width fridge either won't fit or won't operate properly, but it seems I have an extra 2.5" inches of space for a 29.5" fridge. Our current fridge, at 31" seems to have too much space as it is....See MoreHelp choose an under counter integrated drawer refrigerator
Comments (5)I have Marvel 24". I chose it because it seemed to hold more than any of the others. I use it for produce, but also wine, juice and milk. It works very well. And it's true that you can put tall bottles upright in the lower drawer. As far as I can tell it holds temperature fine, but I haven't measured. The produce stays fresh as well as in my Miele fridge. Cons: It's true that it is noisy, especially when it's first cooling down. It doesn't cycle on that often, and in a busy kitchen it's not bad, but in a family room or similar it might be too loud. Also, the gasket on the lower drawer is kind of puffy and it doesn't line up quite right. I'm sure I could get someone out to try to fix it, but I've had too much else to do. Or I might be stuck with it. It's no big deal. Just a minor irritation. In a more prominent location it would be another story. I agree with Lascatx on the Perlick reputation for quality....See MoreHelp Choosing Refrigerator
Comments (16)With LG, it may not ever break, and a lot of them never do. The issue is if it does. Joe's comments are similar to my (lack of) LG service and poor client experience. No one at LG cares, even when you escalate to a senior person with facts, including their own service bulletins which one Sears tech gave me and I confirmed in Google searches. LG points to the reseller (Sears in this case, which I'll not use again). Meanwhile, I am left with an expensive and broken dryer. My local and highly regarded appliance store said similar to Joe when looking at options. Back to fridges, still searching, trying to balance price vs value. Was hoping for under $2k. Checking into the Electrolux, thank you! This thread is super helpful!...See MoreHelp Choosing a New Refrigerator
Comments (11)Likely HD will use an outside contractor to deliver your refrigerator. Best advice I can give you is do not accept anything unless you are okay with it. The delivery company is responsible until you signed the packing slip acknowledging that the product is in a perfect condition. You can, of course, argue later if you find a problem that you did not notice but it is between the retailer / manufacturer and you and surely not fun. It is always a good idea to keep an eye on the delivery from the time they pull up to your curb. Typically delivery companies unpack at the curb side or even while on the truck. You may want to ask the guys to have a first look. If all looks good they can bring it into your space. If it is damaged refuse the delivery on the spot. Often the damage scratches happen while bringing the appliance in. Ask them to be extra careful. Once in your home give it a last thorough inspection before setting in place and after it is installed if you have them do it). Lastly a few dollar tip makes things go smoother especially if you imply up front. Those guys typically don't make a whole lot of money and I personally appreciate the 'heavy lifting' the do for me. Remember, in a worse case waiting for a replacement for a few weeks is better than seeing a scratch for years. No worries you will be fine. Let us know how it worked out. Cheers....See Morecubby14
