Why I don't buy fabrics "just because they're beautiful"
Comments (12)Here's what I came up with. I couldn't match the color of the dark blue with any fabric, so I found some green that I used for the border. I tried framing the large blocks with the blue and green fabric, but the result was too busy for for taste. The backing is a gorgeous green on green print too. I have it sandwiched and the glue is drying. I hope I can get it quilted right away. My friend needs a little pick-me-up. The border is not as yellow as the photo makes it look....See MoreIs it just because it's pretty?
Comments (33)I agree that it depends on what you're doing. If you're trying to create bathrooms that look like they've been in a home since 1930, for instance, a single handle isn't the way to go. But in a modern house I'd probably do single handle for the convenience. Arkansas girl, there are plenty of touchless faucets that have sensors for when your hands are held under them. Personally I consider them just one more electronics doodad potentially to go wrong, but they're out there if you like the idea. There are also kitchen faucets that you tap to turn on, or that old GW darling, the tapmaster, that lets you use your foot to activate any faucet. Comments (27)Donna, a lot depends on where you are and what time of year. In the north the summers are very hot and extremely humid, the season is called "The Wet" because there are frequent thunderstorms, some cyclones and flooding. Darwin has an almost daily thunderstorm the locals call "Hughie". In the south where I am, it's sort of half dry heat days and half humid days. The humidity builds and builds until you think "Dear Lord, just rain and get it over with" and then it doesn't :-/. This is just summer settling in. It will go to 45C/113F or even a little more on many days before summer is over :-(...See MoreJust because. . .
Comments (9)Victoria Day (to honour Queen Victoria's Birthday of May 24th, 1819) became a holiday in 1901 the year she died. Anyway, it's now become the unofficial start of summer and camping and known as "the May Long Weekend". But here, it's cold and drizzling....See MoreBeverly Hills
