Comments (12)I love all those soft colors! Sometimes the ones with the vivid colors go on my wish list first because they really catch my eye, but I have to say that these with the pastel colorations are so soothing to the eye. They are picture-perfect! I also think your pic of Indian Giver is one of the best I've seen. I didn't realize it was such a deep purple, which I really like. Reminds me of Concord grapes. Love your photos....thanks! Celeste...See More'Fragrant Lavender Simplicity' I hope plus some
Comments (7)Your roses look darn good. I've also heard Honor doesn't do well east of the Rockies. I have one planted at the church garden and it is beautiful. I guess it likes this part of GA....See MoreQuartzite Island: Best Options for Proper Support?
Comments (8)@suzyq, what a beautiful kitchen! Is the base attached to the floor? Screwed into plywood: plywood between the base and the countertop? Thanks for the picture! @Joseph Corlett, LLC and @ Sophie Wheeler: We don't actually want to float/cantilever it, but good to know given pots of $$$ it could be done. I was trying to explain why our plans show no support (Ikea planner limitation), but it seems my can't-sleep-obsessing-about-the-kitchen-musings didn't translate well! Check on cost of mitering edges: about $1500 extra per fabricator. That includes the extra material and labor. I'll stick with the 3cm, and possibly an ogee edge (otherwise pencil edge). The table base look is our first choice. Found the Osborne Wood table kits through various countertop support discussions here, and they look very good. I've been in touch with them today, and leaning heavily that way. Sophie: Good point about the electric. There will be power for the undermounted microwave and we plan an outlet at each end. Osborne has a option to add outlets right into the legs, although if it's part of an apron the post top must be 5" wide. In this house there is ALWAYS a good place to plug in the blender! If needed, we'll go the route of adding the 15" cabinets. Secure and stable is the priority....See More"Jesse Hildreth" (Just because it's pretty)
Comments (14)I grew Jesse in Zone 10a Encino (hot!) and it opened white with no tints other than when it was cool. I now grow it in Zone 9b Central California Coast, nine miles from the ocean with heavy marine influence. IF the flower forms and opens during periods of over cast weather, you will see the pink and yellow tints within the white flower. If, as it is right now, there is "temperature" (high seventies to mid eighties) and no fog so the sun is BRILLIANT, it's a white flower from beginning to finish. I have never observed a flower on my plant in either zone with as saturated yellow wash as Masha's photos. Location, location, location. I did, however, catch rather definite pink and yellow tints within the petal folds on the original plant in San Juan Bautista while visiting there with Jeri and Jill Perry. We all got to see them! So, yes, if it's brilliantly sunny and warm to hot, most, if not all, of the colored tints bleach to white pretty quickly....See Morejust_terrilynn
