TC's are suppose to be yellow and I guess they never will be(
Comments (29)Val, that's an awesome pic! I have that one. So the general consensus is that temps too cold can affect the color of (supposed to be) white or yellow blooms. That's fascinating. So one could take cuttings from a same plant, give them different conditions & end up with 2 diff flower colors? That's unusual. I can't think of any other plants, in or out, that do that (though some that vary due to PH issues come to mind.) And 'we' seem to agree some flowers just naturally have different colored buds from the inside of the flowers? So it looks like I've got a bunch of red & pink plants but no purple. That's cool, I like to have goals & now know what to seek when it's time for some trades in a few months. So who has one with purple flowers? What color are the buds - orange - LOL!? This one I got at WM a few weeks ago had a white flower on it, before this discussion so didn't realize it was potentially unusual. By the time I took its' pic, it was turning pink. By the time it shriveled, it was all very pink. Just checked, doesn't look like it's going to make new buds, the definitely white unopened ones in the pic all fell off....See MoreRoofers cut evergreen - Am I being unreasonable?
Comments (62)I almost forgot about the roof shingles being two different types and colors! What is being done about that?? Did they just go over the original shingles or take off and prep the area? Do you have gutters? If so do you have any leaf prevention added to the gutters? I'd check them out. Why am I asking? Just before I bought my own house, the roof had been replaced and I did not know it at the time, but there were several downspouts that were clogged that had caused water backups in the yard and water leaks in the house. When we got around to sleuthing what was really happening, (after repeated gutter "solutions" with various degrees of success) we discovered what the REAL problem was ....wait, you guessed it...old shingles were stuffed in the center of the downspouts!!! Don't let something like that happen to you! For yours, since there was apparently not supervision for them to put the correct shingles on your house, and for them not to notice, and to throw trash off your roof or at least pile up the trash all over and not clean up like their website states, find out what else might have been overlooked or rushed. They obviously need to redo the roof to all be one color and the actual color and type of shingle you specify. You need to have some serious meetings with your GC and this company and even see if they will be the ones to redo the work or not. Or maybe they would be fine with proper supervision, as is so often the case. And of course all of that correction, and supervision, will be on someones else's dime and not yours. The tree is still another matter and will need some very serious compensation or someone might be buying a new mature tree for you. I also had a devastating loss regarding a mature tree that was the pride of my backyard that unfortunately I had not realized the twisted branches that covered 1/3 of my park like backyard, was coming from the sister tree across the fence and on my neighbor's property and not my own. So when they unceremoniously chopped down their side of the sister 40 year old healthy Live Oak (the two tallest in the neighborhood), I was absolutely devastated. The branches were so intertwined I had no idea the tree I loved was half from the neighbors. I lost so much shade and privacy. So at least yours is clearly on your own property so I would fight that as strongly as you can. As you stated, these are lessons learned for going forward and I hope you get a good plan together for correcting these mishaps and prevention of others with the proper meetings and supervision, for the more detailed interior of your remodel....See MoreWhat on earth am I supposed to put in this cabinet?
Comments (19)KayceeFL and ladoladi, I'm curious why you got the 30" Sharp when the 24" has the same capacity. We didn't get a microwave drawer. They were very new when we were remodeling 5 years ago. I think the 24" had just come out. They only had the very slow automatic close and open at the time which I felt I would find annoying so we got a Kitchen Aid microwave with controls at the top and drop down door. Ours is mounted kind of low because we had too many other contenders for the top of the base cabinet. This cabinet was ordered with customized drawer and opening heights to fit this microwave. The drawer above it holds spices - we use that more frequently than the microwave so we wanted them on top. We use the narrow drawer at the bottom for pot holders - a good location for them since the oven is across the aisle from the prep sink - all the hot stuff appliances are right there. A higher mounting might be nice for the microwave, but I don't find the lower one a problem even with a standard microwave. Using a drawer microwave at that height should be more convenient. I think that the reason Thomasville built the 30" microwave cabinet that way is to allow for bigger appliances. The top rail can be cut down to allow for a bigger openning as Kaycee had to do. 30" appliances might be taller as well as wider than 24" ones so they make the drawer smaller in the 30" cabinet and put a thick top rail that can be adjusted....See MoreI suppose this is why I needed a kitchen designer-opinions needed
Comments (45)Nalcar, you're so kind to do all this. And wow, that's really dramatic! The moldings are not so much to my taste, but the split up cabs with the top across is an interesting thought. On the right, though, the wall begins to curve just after the A/C and so I think it would take a lot of work to put a flat cabinet there. I can already hear what my contractor is going to say about that one. I have a really strange apartment with very odd lines so I've been hearing a lot of that! Also, that puts the Shaker door cab very close to the built-ins which have a door in a different style. You can see them in my pic in the post on 10/31 at 8:12. What do you think? I'd also have to consider the cost of the extra granite at this point. Oh, and the usual distraction from the wall A/C is a chair in front of it and a framed picture on top. Well, no chair during the summer. :D...See Morekittyjam_6a SE_Mich
