It took a year for me to decide to make a website just for Gary. I first made a site of photos of my flowers and it grew. Then I made another using old family photos that my nephew had scanned, just to entertain family members. It was simply busy work to get through the first anniversary and to learn just how everything worked. Then I finally made the 'real' website. I deliberately chose not to use last names or a lot of personal information. The peculiar thing is, I didn't show any of it to DH until a month after it was finished. I've noticed that on my server, looking over the websites of others, that many people start a website and then either lose interest or forget how to go back. Be sure to write down any URL for the site and ALL passwords. A little prompt or two on what you're doing might be a good thing to write down, too. The good thing about the websites that have 'templates' is that you can easily delete and add at will if you change your mind. An easy way to start is to decide on a title for the page or pages, then write out a little text. Choose a couple of photos and get going!

To make it easier just open a browser, erase whats there and type in the bar: ftp://yourusername:yourpassword@www.yournewsitelocation.com Do this again by opening a second browser, but insert the imformation for your old location. This will take you directly to your files and you can drag and drop between the two. Or you can drag and drop from your documents also.

You could always use the "forgot my password" link and they'll send you info on how to change it. This would come in handy only if you have your e-mail linked to your IPhone (I have 2 e-mail accounts linked to mine). Also - the IPhone has a notepad and you can store multiple pages of notes. I use mine for grocery lists, reminders, etc. You could store some of the less important passwords there. I wouldn't store bank info or anything like that on there, though.

Before I was on Reader's Paradise I was (and am still) a regular poster on the Antique Roses Forum. In a post some years ago a good friend of mine there tossed off a series of spoof online names, one of which was Rosefolly. I seized upon it and registered it instantly. My friend was a bit bewildered. She had no idea someone would actually want the name! I like it for its double meaning, a folly being an ornamental garden structure, and yes, I do love roses to the point of folly, just as I do books. My real name is Paula, and I am blessed in that I actually like the name I was given by my mother. Not everyone is so lucky. However I also really enjoy having another name in the online world.
