Need help identifying roses

Dear All:

I am a new rose grower and new to the forum (though I have been
reading it for a few months now). I recently moved into a house with two
planted rose bushes but I do not know what type of rose they are (or if
they are the same). Also, I recently transplanted two rose bushes from
my late-grandmother's house and do not know what type they are either.
Attached are four pictures, one for each of the bushes in question. Any
information would be great.

The first one looks like Dr Huey, a common rootstock of grafted roses.

If it only blooms once a year, that is. Otherwise, it might be Blaze. Hopefully, more knowledgeable posters here would be able to help you.

Levy, does Unk 15 throw many foot long shoots in summer? Not many, foot long ones, but shoots that are MANY feet long. Mermaid, after it's been in the ground a little while, will throw HUGE climbing canes. You can't keep it as a smallish shrub, it just won't do it. Also, Mermaid does NOT have apricot coloring in the buds or flowers...ever. It begins a sulfur yellow and can fade to a very pale yellow in high heat. The foliage texture and color are all wrong for Mermaid. Completely wrong. One of your photos shows a cluster of buds forming and Mermaid never generates that large a cluster, particularly on such a smal plant. This plant is a shrub, potentially a shrubby climber. Mermaid is a rampant climber, period. Take closer looks at Long Tall Sally and Sally Holmes. They are much better bets. Kim

I figured since I frequently have R. glauca seedlings that grow true, that might also be the case with these little seedlings. They sound like good guesses to me. My first thought would be 'Alba Maxima', a very common old rose, in Europe at any rate. My 'Princesse de Lamballe' appears to be identical to AM. MLdSG has a yellow tint to her blooms while the others are tinged pink. I don't know 'Blanche de Belgique' but have read she can blackspot which the others aren't susceptible to.

Hi Patty, I love seeing Princess Anne! It was sent to me by mistake 2 or 3 years ago instead of Princess Alexandra of Kent. I gifted it to a friend because I did not have a place for it at the time but wish I would have just waited until I had one of the new flowerbeds built. There are some similarities and makes me wonder what the parents of Princess Anne are? I have only been able to find the lineage of older DA releases.

Hi Andres,

My knowledge is probably just as limited as yours when it comes to roses and I only have a few years of experience with a handful of them, but the top rose looks like one that I grow: Ramblin Red. RR is a climbing rose, so if yours isn't throwing out long canes, it's probably something else.

I'll attach a few pictures of my roses so you can see the likeness.
The color of Ramblin Red is a bit off in the top pic, red always being a tough color to photograph, but the second pic is a more true representation.

Thank you for the information. I do not see any specifically long canes regarding the top picture so am not sure it is a climbing rose. The roses often appear in groups of four on that rose bush. The top two roses have been blooming continuously for at least a couple months now; and they grow quickly after pruning, even in the triple digit weather we have been having.

Very nice rose pictures, Nicole. I will have to consider adding some of these climbers.
