Theresa- I thought that was a walkmaker path. I got the brick walkmaker stamps for the areas between my raised beds in my veggie garden. I'll probably get the stone one this year as I really like the look of a bed (esp. a cottage garden) that spills out onto the path. That hardscape element seems to give a sense of order to otherwise wonderfully chaotic cottage gardens. I haven't finished my project yet but I have a couple tips for anyone wanting to do something like this. First, put down weed barrier fabric between the ground surface and the rock substrate. Secondly, don't buy the concrete colorant they sell for it at the big box stores. If you look up concrete suppliers in your phone book, you'll find a few places where you can buy the integral color as well as a release agent in a different color so it gives it more depth and realism. It is also less expensive to buy it in bulk than the colorant from Home Depot and comes in many, many more choices.

Hah! No, just me and I'm well over 10. Anyway, it is a good thing because the kitchen is TINY--and 100 years old. So here's my question! When you look at the album I posted, can you also click around and see my account settings and all the other photo albums I have posted on google photos?? I continue to see my account settings in the top right corner of what I posted above, along with the possibility of seeing my other albums. But I don't know what you see and whether only the account holder sees the account settings! Thanks for checking!

Christopher, it doesn't repeat. I'd never heard of La Diaphane before so perhaps it was never grown in Sweden? My rose does indeed look similar. Mine is quite short but I don't know how it would behave in a better location. I didn't rustle it, it was a gift from someone who did. I dug up other roses myself from this old garden at the agricultural university, an old and good clone of New Dawn, Alba Meidiland, Katharina Zeimet and a huge red single rugosa I am using to shut out the sight of a new house with an orange roof. I get angry whenever I think of this lost garden, an educational garden aimed at both students and the public. There was a large rose garden of old and new roses I got to know for the first time. I learnt so much here as a beginning gardener, for instance from the trial beds with cabbages grown with different manures or none at all, or about composting. I've never grown cabbages but I learnt about feeding plants.

.My mother was born in Bavaria, wow absolutely beautiful Sheryl! It's just like the paintings we have! First blooms are beautiful Kristine, thanks for sharing! The photos brighten my day! I'm a bit disappointed in Veteran's Honor, while it's in it's second year it hasn't had the vigor I thought it would and only 1 bloom so far. I know it'll get much better but I'm impatient sometimes :) I guess because I recall years back when I planted VH and within it's first year it shot up and presented quite a few blooms. The second year wow and so on. But as they say good things come to those who wait. The discouraging thing is it's susceptible to BS so I have to keep an eye on that. Otherwise it's one of my favorites, a standout out. The roses stay on the bush for more than 2 weeks and keeps it's color. The blooms nod a bit but I can live with that and it has a nice raspberry fragrance.
