Window in front gable

Does this proposed window look too small or should it be a bit taller? There will also be freize board trim which will fill in some of the space. Thank you!

Comments (29)Given your height limit, I don't think there is a better option than a gambrel roof so don't throw the baby out with the bath water. It is quite possible to shorten the "dormer" elements as shown in my sketch since that only removes a dozen square feet of floor space at the second floor of the house which is a small price to pay to keep your current design scheme. Filling in the hollowed-out" gambrel gables and using shingles, narrow rake trim and no corner boards will give the house the appearance of the Shingle Style which IMO will make this a spectacular house. There is an easier solution for the two roof slopes: make them the same. If you think that would change the appearance of the side elevations, please show us those drawings and also show us a section drawing through the house with the roof slopes well labeled (I can't read any of the notes or dimensions on the drawings). I don't want to offend you but to me the skill level of your designer is below what I would expect from an architect. Comments (7)I agree a gable will look all wrong for this style of house and so are the doors and that arched trim is also wrong over the door. Google modern house entryies and see what might work I honestly have no idea wahy you would want to cover a window at all. I could see a cedar 2 step deck at the front with a flat extension maybe over the door and attached to the jut out on the right . Comments (15)Please, Please remove the shutters from that upper window its killing me lol. You can tell they are too small bc they would never cover the window if they where closed. You could keep them on the front window if you like, but consider a little larger. I like the brown color the wood is now it adds some contrast. and the door I would be into a blue green color, so it doesnt get lost in the shadows. ( I removed the upper shutters, increased your garage light size and shutter size and removed the small little handle deals from the garage door. I will add as my final note, the landscaping.. im assuming the builder did that?...See More- PRO
