My first Antique Rose Bloom (Baron Girod De L'ain)

Now that I am on break from nursing school, I have time to post! I fell in love with old roses after watching the amazing BBC documentary "Roses and climbers & Creepers". Baron was the fist HP to catch my eye, and now I've found myself collecting them for my very small yard. It's fitting that it was the first to bloom for me. What caught my eye about this rose, was the white edging that makes the blooms look like cartoon drawings (if that makes sense). It really was such a stunning flower and the smell was strong, especially for a baby plant. I ended up cutting that long, old stem off with the bloom because side shoots were coming up and I wanted the plant to put its energy to those. I've read people don't prune their cuttings until a year after they've had them. However, the branch was wooded over and I just thought it be best to stop the plant from pushing out growth from it. So far the plant seems healthy, but it is too young to remark on its habits
