Comments (30)Masha, I just saw the heading of your post saying "long" and my heart started beating excitedly. I quickly grabbed a warm cup of coffee (its freezing cold and foggy here in Melbourne)and decided to settle down to enjoy the show. It was as breathtaking as ever. I absolutely love the combination of Sharifa and Ebb and am planning to do it myself. Your WS2K is so beautiful, I wish mine would grow like that. Do you prune it hard every winter? I have pruned mine the last two years, but I wonder if I should leave it as it is this year? Its hardly grown more than a foot and a half. Your Cecile Brunner is magnificent and I love Roseraie de L'Hay is beautiful and I was especially excited to see Christopher Marlowe since I have ordered it too this year. I am not fond of cream roses, but loved Gruss! All the others look wonderful too. You have a lovely garden and thanks for posting the pictures. Comments (6)Hi Elkey, if your plant is "reverted", this not means it was grafted... Reversion sometimes occur in Roses wich are "sports" of some other Rose. I give you an exemple: 'Winchester Cathedral', a white Austin's Rose, is a sport of 'Mary Rose', which is pink. They are identical in flower shape, growth, fogliage, but not in colour. Sometimes the white one "revert" to her parent, showing partly or completely pink flowers. As I've said before, 'Baron G. de l'Ain' is a sport of 'Eugène Furst', which has self crimson-purple flowes (and no white markings), like the beautiful Rose in your pic ;o) Now, you just need to wait, and see if white edges will come back :o) Ciao! :o)...See MoreBaron Girod de l' Ain and La Belle Sultane pics
Comments (12)Thank you everyone. :) Elemire, I got a couple of blooms on mine the first year so maybe you will also. It was just a bareroot from Pickering last spring too. Stasi, it's a Hybrid Perpetual. Gets a little blackspot for me but not enough to spray for and keeps its leaves. Aren't the blooms the cat's meow?!! Here is the link on HelpMeFind that'll tell you more with lots of pics: http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=2.531. Lovemysheltie, it was planted last spring as a bareroot from Pickering. I was pretty surprised myself at how it's shot up. It's grafted onto multiflora. I don't know if that makes a difference or not....See MoreFrancis Dubreuil or Baron Girod de L'ain
Comments (10)Well, out here, Francis (Barcelona, HT) had mildew problems. Baron Girod de l'Ain had mildew problems AND rusted. If you're going to try Barcelona, it can be a weakling on its own roots, but is reportedly pretty vigorous budded. I have been tempted to try see if Burlington Rose Nursery buds it.
