2 colors or 1 for exterior walls? (photo in comments)

I posted this on houzz and had only 2 responses. I do not think most were familiar with the concept of painting "popouts" which were common when my stucco house was built in the 90s. However, I am planning to repaint and don't know it if is better to repeat this or not. Newer houses I have looked at have been designed without them, but it used to be "an upgrade".

Personally, I'd like a lighter color over all (I like the gallery grey) and something much more striking for the front door. I'm not even sure where the front door is on the photo. Nothing neon necessarily but still stunning for the door. I'm sure others will chime here. I just painted my house SW Colonial revival gray with a Swedish barn red front door. Previous to that my front door was taupe and it looked okay but not great by any means. If you're allowed any color on the door just go for it. It's only paint and if you hate it after a year you can always change it.

If the colors were compatible, I think it would be an attractive option for you. What colors were you thinking of using?

looks to me like an accent wall color is the way to go. though in my old house now that I think about it too, I had the kitchen and dining room 2 different colors with a line running down the middle. never even thought twice about it. I think I'm nervous now because this wall is my biggest focal point in the whole house cuz it holds the fireplace and drybar cabinets entering into the kitchen. I'm literally so confused on what to do it's not even funny. I really hope I figure this out soon. Seems like when I google inspirational photos that most people just do all one color. As I like that thought I always wanted that spa blue color to go behind all my white cabinets. Maybe I'm wrong in thinking that will look good. Maybe I should mix accent walls or something. Who ever thought paint could be SO CONFUSING. It's really not normal to be this stressed out over color is it?

I like the colors you have. The black wall is a nice touch. what you are lacking is some wall art, and some actual color in there in accessories to give it that extra punch of color. I wouldnt repaint it, until I tried out some colorful accessories. Maybe try some bright turquoise, some art on the wall, with that and other colors in it. Or some other brighter color, if you dont like turquoise. I tthink once you do that, you will be happy with the paint you already have done. Oh, and I love the color on your sink and toilet. :-)

Thanks for your input. I'll definitly be doing a whiter trim no matter what color I go with. I'm considering a blue-gray as you mentioned. I tried uploading a photo. Benjamin moore whale gray. Or Sherwin Williams smoky blue. I tried uploading photos but it never works. Really frustrating. Normally I would want something to pop out of the landscape but in person there something nice about driving up to it. It's private and woody so it feels tucked in. If I went with sage it doesn't have to be this exact shade and it would have a lighter trim.

I have virtually no choice in colors due to HOA. I have requested they update the colors but won't know if they do until next monthly meeting.

What colors do you have available now? What can you use on the front door?

I believe the front door is not regulated. Other choices are dunn Edwards gallery grey or Canyonville for the main wall color. Would a whiteish door work? As you can see it is recessed and north facing. Do you prefer the popouts painted or not?

Right well would have to confirm that is true about the door - not 100% sure. As the board on the HOA changes so do the rules it seems.

Well HOA says no choice, period. I am not at all pleased.
