Me too. If you haven't planted it in the ground yet, I would advise you not to. Where did you get the plant? I think they need to be advised, and you might want to get a refund if you can return it still in its nursery pot. That collapsed tissue at the tip of the leaf and ink bleeding at the top of the picture shows on all of the visible leaves. I would suspect the plant would be considered advanced HVX infected. I AM SURE YOU MIGHT APPRECIATE MORE CONFIRMATION THAN JUST hh AND MY OPINIONS B4 ACTING ON THEM, and I think it will come on this posting. Sorry Lunaria. If you are unfamiliar with HVX (Hosta Virus X) just Google it and you will come up with a lot, including many pictures showing the symptoms your plant exhibits, how to deal with it, how to prevent its spread, etc. Us Peeps here on Hosta Forum get the creeps even typing HVX. Yes, it is the sun... but that doesn't necessarily mean you need to move it to a shadier spot... Stained Glass has been a slower grower for me than the original Fragrant Bouquet / Guacamole family. Still, it is a steady grower. It will tolerate full deep shade, but prefers bright light and can tolerate quite a bit of direct sun. My largest one grows in full direct midday sun. In direct hot sun, SG does bleach out quite a bit in midsummer. Parts of mine are pretty white right now, while those in deep shade remain yellow. But anytime you make a move like you did this year, you really can't tell too much from the first year. The plants seem to take a year to adjust to changed light conditions. Many hostas will burn up the first year when moved from darker to lighter areas... but then the next year the foliage emerges under the new light conditions and the plant may be perfectly happy in the new spot.

Hi. Short answer: No. Longer answer: Cathedral Windows is the thickest-leaved fragrant hosta I know of, and is a sport of Stained Glass, but Stained Glass certainly has a unique look as a fragrant. I'm kind of a fragrant hosta geek myself, and don't personally know of anything fragrant that's similar to SG, especially anything with very good substance. Good question, though!

And rearrangement never ends! I have been digging things into the ground for the winter and thinking that's not really where I want it. I guess I'll be busy rearranging next season again! I really like Stained Glass. I've been struggling with a very small Cathedral Windows so I can't comment on it. Saw Etched Glass in a nursery this year and picked it up. But since my garden is full, I decided to put it back. Sometimes what I find with newer hosta (that not many people have) is that they may not grow well, or they may not look good all season etc. So I try to refrain from buying new until others have it and can tell me more about it. Anyways, it slows down the amount of new hostas I get to have---which is actually a good thing for me---until I find more hosta real estate!
