Comments (2)I think a light grey would look very smart - white trim. Be sure to paint the garage door the same color as the house to help it disappear....See MoreWhat color should we paint the exterior of our home?
Comments (14)If you have enough moisture on the brick, the paint will probably fail prematurely. I am assuming that section is a garage, which might make it colder and also encourage moss to grow. There are some solutions that help prevent regrowth that can be added to the power wash. Anyway, as nice as brick homes can look right after they're painted, it isn't worth the upkeep in the long run. Besides, your brick is good looking as is. Getting the right color on the gable section and the trim will be your best bet. Think about a creamy color instead of bright white. One red brick house change their trim from white to cream and the house looked so good. You would never think such a minor detail would make such a difference. A gable roof is like this /\. A shed roof is like half a gable. Comments (23)Kiimela, it just depends on how white you want the white. Alabaster and greek villa are warmer whites that lean a little yellow. make sure to get some samples and bring them home. I did these three on my home, with the Swiss Coffee (Behr) on my stucco. See how dull the swiss coffee looks against a bright white? But,,, this is how bright the white turned out on the stucco! Also have a rental house w/Swiss Coffee and black trim. (Behr colors) It's a nice combo. consider getting a new front door though. if you must keep yours, paint the entire door and side lites black or red. I'd prob just go w/Pure White if you're picking SW colors, for your place. Paired here w/Hale Navy, both of those would look nice. Or do the charcoal. just do a dark color for the trim against the white...See MoreWhat color to paint home exterior?
Comments (8)carolyn, as you can see, there is a large cult of "Don't ever paint your brick, omg!" people. you don't plan on painting the brick in the green color, do you?? if that's the case, I say NO. Paint the brick (Romabio) white, white trim, and pick a diff color for the siding. Do not use regular paint on the brick. You must use a specialty product that allows it to breathe. If you use the right product, you'll neither 'devalue' or cause yourself maintenance nightmares. Besides, the brick is covered so you'll basically have no upkeep. Use Romabio. If you want a limewash, use Classico. (and you have 72 hrs to decide or else you can wash it away) more of an opaque covering, use the Masonry Flat. the front looks like a dark cavern that recedes into the shadows. Will you be pruning the large shrubs in front? What is your overall look you're trying to achieve? However, if you wanted to, you could keep the brick and do a board and batten siding over it, no? Is that something that's possible? Both of these show board and batten on the porch area. and btw, whatever you choose, copy any of these pics to decorate your porch and deck area. notice in the 2nd pic, they painted the porch ceiling a "Haint Blue" paint color. I love this look or do a natural stained wood beadboard like this one: Oh look here, painted brick! The rest of these pics all have white brick front porch areas. Some of them you'll see they removed the bannister. it's a nice look. Here's the limewash. you can still see some of the brick poking through. another limewash w/wood ceiling, similar style homes, some of these have front porch siding. this is somewhat like yours, except for the columns. the green you've chosen will be similar to this color siding. Another one w/siding. I like the brick skirting and no bannister. Yours could look similar to this one if you did some type of skirting. any plans for that? you could also do the skirt like shown here....See Moredoorih
