10 years agoOh, Lady's Slippers! As a kid romping through the woods it was always exciting to find them....and Trailing Arbutus. Your Bunchberries pic of a couple days ago brought back those romping in the woods memories also. Haven't see any of them for many years. But then, it has been a very long tome since I have been romping in the woods.

Comments (11)These gentlemen on the island of Madeira were playing some game of cards where they would lunge forward and throw their card down in an attempt to play before someone else. It was the only time I've seen a card game that would qualify as aerobic exercise. They were hanging out killing time waiting to take tourists for a ride in a sled down the steep streets of the town. Varigated Monkshood in the garden of my father-in-law's former house in Maine. AKA Aconitum, AKA Wolf's Bane, AKA Queen of all poisons
AKA One of the most poisonous plants in the world.
Apparently even brushing against it repeatedly while gardening or picking it without gloves can deliver a potentially fatal dose.
10 years agoGerbera from rescue rack at Lowe's. I put it in my little greenhouse and it doesn't seem to like it there, so it is now outside.
