Your post caught my eye because I too have several mislabelled roses from Pickering, including a Great Maiden's Blush which was supposed to be Alba Maxima. This will be its second season here and it definitely IS Great Maiden's Blush because I already grow GMB and they match exactly. Years ago I ordered Paul Ricault and got Gros Choux de Hollande instead. I wrote a letter to Pickering with photos and they agreed what they sent wasn't PR....the next spring they sent me a replacement and it was ALSO Gros Choux de Hollande! I ordered Nevada and got its pink sport, Marguerite Hilling instead. I'm not the type to make a stink, so I've just let it slide. In the meantime, the mislabelled roses have become part of my rose family and even though I didn't count on these roses, a beautiful rose is never a mistake in my eyes. I just hadn't planned on TWO of some of them! Celeste

The leaves on the new plant are more lanceolate and glossy, and I'm seeing a lot of purple margination. Those on your original 'Kiss Me' are more ovate and matte, and I don't see the purple. Unless the new one was grown under conditions very different from your original (not altogether unlikely, as it could have been propagated in a greenhouse, while yours was doubtless outside), and so these differences were induced by different culture, I'm afraid you were sent a ringer. Still, it might be a nice rose anyway!

I'm not sure exactly how big it is because it's growing out through a gigantic hydrangea on a very steep slope covered in fallen trees and branches. But it has long flexible canes. I wouldn't be surprised if they were 12' or more - I haven't been able to see where they go into the ground. The hydrangea is acting like a support for it. Some branches are completely horizontal. I found a few volunteer baby roses downslope from it yesterday and eventually realized that a pair of them were growing up out of a long cane that had been flattened by a falling tree and may reach back to the mother plant. It has started rooting along its length into the ground. I didn't know you could layer roses. I foresee I'm going to learn a lot about roses this summer. :)

The leaves are definitely a Kordes. If it is magenta/hot pink then Laguna. Florentina is definitely not hot pink at all. The foliage of both plants looks almost identical to me. Lagunas foliage is on my hand on the left, Florentinas on the right. Laguna
