Little and Big - Small Roses and Their Big Sisters
I enjoy planting roses together that look something alike - color, texture - but are different sizes. Such as Jeanne LaJoie and Aloha -
Or how about Jean Kenneally and Royal Wedding ? -
Lets try Peggy Martin and Zephirine Drouhin together -
This little noid grocery-store mini and Dream Weaver work well along side each other, don't you think?
Below, the colorful little noid mini seems to bring Jude the Obscure and a nice red noid Trader Joe mini together nicely -
Does anyone else out there enjoy pairing roses this way? Please show us!

I accidentally did something like that once. I had a nice shrub rose called Well Being planted over in a corner, with no plans for what else to do there. Then I wanted to order a rose for somewhere else in the yard, but the nursery required a minimum order of three roses. I could find nothing else I wanted to plant, so I settled on 2 small mini-roses called Little Sunset. Figured I could tuck them in somewhere--walked around the yard, and the only open spot I could find to squeeze them in was on either side of the Well Being rose. It was only a couple years later when it dawned on me that the 2 minis and the much bigger shrub rose echoed similar colors in each other.
Unfortunately, it never occurred to me to take a pic when they were all blooming together since they were just "extras" I had to put somewhere. I'll have to keep my eyes open this summer and try to catch them all in bloom simultaneously again.
In the meantime, I've tried to give the impression they created by posting the minis at the beginning and end of this sequence and two pics of the bigger, taller, fuller shrub in the middle. Double pics also capture better one other trait both types of roses have in common, namely, that they change colors--sometimes mostly rich yellow with a bit of blushed petals ends or outer petals, other times lots of blush with the yellow pushed into the background.

Interesting - it's a seedling of Austin's Fair Bianca, and a vast improvement: larger flowers and a heady old rose fragrance (Fair Bianca is one of the myrrh-scented Austins). Comments (5)I don't know so much what you can do for your dn, but her parents need to get involved in helping with the baby and taking care of her. At that age, she is old enough to give the baby a bottle, help dress her, change diapers, etc. If dn is involved in taking care of the baby, she won't notice how much attention the baby is getting. She is at an age when she needs to start learning more about responsibility and helping others. My parent had more babies when I was 8 1/2, 10, and 12 1/2. I never experienced any jealosy. I always enjoyed having the new babies around. I guess you might try to tell your dn how you and your sister always enjoyed being sisters. Comments (55)I think we're going to have to have an electrician come in and rewire the house or something. The bathroom, the two fan lights in the kitchen, and the lights in the main room in the basement go out all the time. Doesn't matter what kind of bulbs we put in there, they burn out. Yet the light over the sink is on pretty much 24/7 and it's been replaced like once in 16 years. For the last long while, we quit buying the "good" bulbs b/c if we get three months out of them, that's a good length of time for us, but the cost is outlandish to replace that often for bulbs that rarely are used. The cabinet door goes to shelving in the hall. 7 years agoI wish you luck, sutekesh, with Little Sunset. After several years, mine has started blooming like crazy--quite a show--so I think you have something to look forward to.
Some readers might want to consider Well Being also. It is a most under-rated rose. Mine gets neglected a lot over in the corner mostly by itself, but it still puts out gorgeous blooms and has little BS problems. Here's another view of this beauty in a mostly sunshine yellow phase.
