Eric, do you mind telling me where you ordered your toilet from. Lyban, two local Toto dealers I talked with about a month ago said these "II" models were so new that they didn't know how quickly they'd come in, but based on past experience, they expected it could take 4 to 5 weeks. I thought that pressed my timing, so I looked online. (I also called Toto, which confirmed to me that the toilets were definitely in stock and had started shipping in February). The best price I got was from Ira Woods; I had ordered from them before when doing my kitchen and had a perfect experience, and they always seem to be recommended by folks on the kitchen forum. Their price was best if my total order would be $750, which would get me free shipping on the toilet; I was going to order my drawer pulls from them anyway (and eventually did), so I was over that limit. When I called them to ask about availability, they called Toto and estimated three weeks. I ended up ordering it from HM Wallace (they do business online as PerformanceToilets.com) because they promised they get a weekly truckload from Toto and would therefore get the toilet within a week and UPS it to me (free) for delivery within 10 days. Their price was about $40 higher, but since they seemed like they'd get it to me fastest, I ordered from them. Well, it turned out that my toilet "missed the truck" from Toto for two weeks, and ended up taking about three weeks to arrive anyway -- so I spent a little extra compared to Ira Woods for nothing. Oh well. I will say the customer service people at HM Wallace were nice to deal with. The toilet finally arrived Friday, and will be installed this week as soon as the wall tiling is complete and grouted. If we're happy with it, I'll be ordering another for our second bathroom project, which will start as soon as this one is complete. And I'll order from Ira Woods. One last note: when I was price shopping last month, many of the online sites didn't have all the new Toto models on their web sites, but they were all able to get me pricing when I called them. So if you don't see the model you want on a particular web site, it pays to call them. And make sure you check the shipping policies -- method and cost. (Reads the fine print: some web sites which prominently display free shipping on orders over $99 or $199 say that doesn't apply to oversized items, like a toilet. But they may offer free shipping for hitting a higher cost threshold.) I was surprised something as heavy as a 115 pound one-piece toilet could be shipped UPS, but it's standard with some of the companies. Others ship toilets via a freight line. That might make a difference if you or your contractor aren't home all day waiting for a shipment. Some ship all toilets for free; others have a pretty high cost threshold for free shipping. If you are building a bathroom from scratch, definitely -- I cannot emphasize this strongly enough -- make sure that it has a grounded electrical outlet within a foot or two of the toilet at baseboard level. WHEN (it is not a matter of "if") you find that you can no longer live without an advanced toilet seat (also known as a bidet seat or Washlet -- but Washlet is a trademark of Toto so other makers cannot use that word to designate their product), your cost of installation will be significantly reduced if the electrical outlet is readily available. In the meantime, you can have one of the electrical outlets with built-in sensor night-lights installed, which will enhance nighttime visits to the loo. The inevitability that you will be getting an advanced toilet seat also may influence your choice of toilet itself. Once you have yours, you will find yourself disquieted when you travel and visit most American hotels and have to do without the amenity. But you can always travel to Japan, where approximately 100 percent of hotel rooms and better than 70 percent of private residences (nearly 100 percent of newly constructed private residences) have advanced toilet seats on every toilet. There are probably more advanced toilet seats in use in Japan now than TV remote controls, and the remarkable thing is that the product category is only about three decades old. We have a Toto Vespin II with an Inax Clessence advanced toilet seat; we chose those two units after much research, and because we travel at least twice a year to Japan (many relatives), and could ask real people real questions about their real opinions. We have recommended the same combination to several friends in America, who have followed our recommendation, and have been delighted with the outcome. This is a funny thread. I have installed a lot of toilets. I haven't been in the business in many years, but when I re-modeled our bathrooms I went Toto and much prefer the separate trap assembly and bowl design the yhave over any others. I also prefer a skirted toilet as they are much easier to clean. Prior to moving here we bought the place and our daughter lived in it. One of the toilets was on the blink so she went out and bought a Drake. I have the same, uhhh, body chemistry issues as the original poster. It is a double pumper. I agree with the Sangloss statement about it shedding the skid marks, but that leaves "discolored" water in the bowl. One of the things I like the best about the Toto is the Bidet toilet seats that wash and dry your bottom. I've shaved my head for a long time and have decided that a wash and dry on the other end is pretty cool. Opinions may vary;) The other toilet in the house is a Wellworth (Kohler). It is date stamped 1936 production. Kohler have very few skirted toilets today. This 77 yr old toilet is in remarkable condition and I am going to re-build it and keep it. We have hard water issues here and with my re-build of the kitchen and baths I will be adding treatment, but the 77 yr old Kohler has much less of the brown iron ring at the water level than the 4 yr old Toto

I think it's also the ceramic finish from the Drakes of that era. We have a 1.6 GPF Drake circa 2014, and it hasn't aged well at all. But we have a newer 1.28 GPF Toto toilet with the Cefiontect glaze and--while it's obviously still relatively new--it doesn't seem to have the same issues, despite having an even lower water flow. (I will say that we have a Washlet on that toilet, so maybe that also helps?) The flush seems similar, though technically it is a different technology there too.
