Missleah, I just went through the same thing. Check the thread titled "for those of you with white cabinets and white subway tiles..." I was in despair because I held up a (very) white subway tile we had used to tile the bathrooms next to our white-until-you-see-it-against-something-really-white cabinet door sample. It looked terrible. Little did I know there were many options out there. Luckily a lot of people on this forum came to the rescue with suggestions of tile companies with different shades of white. So far, I have gotten samples of Anchor Bay and Subway Ceramics; both have off-white tiles that look great with our cabinet. I also discovered that our local tile shop carries Irongate (Meredith) tiles; they have a crackle that goes well with our cabinets and some nice decoratives for a backsplash. Samples are definitely the way to go.

My hood is 33" off the surface of the counters and stove. I have 8 foot ceilings as well. I bought that mosaic out of Lebanon cleo and nope, it wasn't custom, but I had to make them find it for me (it was an older pattern they weren't currently selling). I've only done the trowel on version of plaster...on marmarino I guess I'd worry about that one because you're not supposed to sand it between coats, which I like to do to smooth it out, but then I'm going for a very polished finish verses a rustic one...so perhaps that's the finish technique. Be sure to do a precoat (or primer) in quartz paint in the bathroom, it makes a huge difference in the quality of your finish long term! (I'm doing it in the kitchen as well). I can't imagine making one of those mosaics. The detail is amazing isn't it? Yours is gorgeous...and I was shooting towards a floral but DH started gagging and making funny faces...so chickens it is. Besides they match our chandelier in the dining room heh heh (elegant chickens...who'd a thunk!) When you get to the plaster work cleo...just keep one thing in mind and you'll do great...ok two...first use rounded edge trowels..they'll make a huge difference, and if yours aren't rounded, sand them down on the sharp corners. And secondly and most important.....THIN THIN THIN! If you can't see the color of the wall under your first coat, it will be a disaster after it dries and you'll have to start over again after sanding it off (and really...new drywall is easier than removing bad plaster). I prefer a 3 coat wall to a two...and then at least one coat of a commercial grade wax (and don't skip that in the bathrooms ever). The wax protects it from all of the fingers that rub over a well done plaster job :) And they will...My powder room is always "petted" by anyone who enters...or walks by LOL

I am in exactly the same place with my red oak floors :( my floors look just as orange as in the pictures... and the variations and wood grain are much more pronounced than I wanted. I have the flooring company coming in on Monday to put down the third coat of poly - do I have any options at this point? Or just a matter of it mattering less once I get more used to the new color...? I had this same level of shock and discomfort with my wall color (had to leave my apartment for the evening just to soothe myself!), but once they sanded the floors - I realized I loved the wall color, just that my old floor finish was clashing with it. Now after staining the floor - I am back to feeling they really clash... and I really wish I had just opted for no stain and a natural finish instead... I’d take that look over what I now have any day. At least - that’s how it feels right now. To the original poster - @lacollar - (or anyone else with a similar experience) - did you eventually get used to (or even fall in love with?! :)) your floors... even though at first it felt like the choice of stain color was a huge mistake? Has anyone tried tinting the final coat to tone down the orange/reds? Does that work? Appreciate any help/advice. Thank you all!

Hey everyone... I had the same exact problem. Some of the thermofoil doors/cabinets started to peel on about 4-5 of my doors. I found a company that is amazing from California. I live in Boston but wanted to provide this info as they so far have been the best fix I could come by. The website is below: http://www.cabinetnow.com I purchased the Artesia RTF Cabinet Door - Frosty Satin White to match and then had the TSQ cut corner. I've attached a picture of the replacements. In my kitchen...can't noticed the difference. They also can do cabinet faces for the drawer fronts. It's the solid door front with TSQ edge. They will talk you through it. See attached photos. Hope this helps everyone with this same FRUSTRATING problem that I had. WAY better than replacing the entire kitchen cabinets! The second photo is an original next to a replacement. If you're staring at them you may notice a slight difference, but once up...seriously the same. Well worth it and reasonably priced. Shipped to my door. GOOD LUCK!
