WHAT FABRIC & COLOR SECTIONAL SOFA FOR THIS RENTAL HOME FAMILY ROOM?
Comments (13)Thanks for the great tips. Yes, it's a good point that 16 won't be sitting at the same time...more like 12 or so. Sadly, I have to go fairly dark due to the cleaning and staining issues. I should have added that I plan to add a large 12 x 15 area rug to break up the dark sofas from the darkish wood. I can't go with medium gray because it will look too "matchy-matchy" with the med. gray stone fireplace. Quick question/concern...I searched for sofas that are made from "Sunbrella" people here suggested and there are only a few and they are outdoor sofas. Mostly, the Sunbrella fabric is pillows. Also, I'll be removing both sofa tables behind the sofas that are there now, so that will give me another~ 4+ feet. But I still plan on putting more narrow sofa tables as I don't want the sofas right up against the walls, so it will be more like an extra 2 feet I'll be gaining. Any other suggestions for a "tough" fabric that won't be torn easily? We've had issues with guests sitting on the sofas, etc., with keys, etc, in their back pockets that tear the fabric or snag it. What are opinions on leather? Vinyl? Also, I'd like to lighten up the room with a cleaner, more modern white (ish) paint, maybe with a touch of gray, )but not with any blue or "pink" in it.) The walls are now painted Sherwin-Williams "Accessible Beige" and the Doors (not seen in the pictures are "Dovetail"...which I LOVE, but is way too dark for the walls. I've already gone down the line of the "Dovetail" paint strip and the lighter colors look kinda "pink-ish" in that room.) Thanks again everyone...See MoreHelp! Comments (29)What does the 4th wall in your room look like? Is it possible to rearrange things? Give it a quarter turn so that it is no longer in front of the windows. In other words, one section on the back wall and the other section would be where the TV / console currently set. The TV could then be on that (unseen) 4th wall. I also think the TV is mounted too high....See MoreHelp Selecting Best Sectional Sofa for New Home
Comments (7)I'm not in a position to comment on the furniture supplier but would like to make a suggestion regarding your choice of colour for the sectional. On your sketch, you show a white sectional but in your samples some of the colours are quite daring for a large piece of furniture. I would opt for a more subdued colour that you won't get tired of. If you like colour, go for the colour in accent pillows, it your get tired of them, it's not a big expense to change your colour scheme. Here is the sectional in what looks like a greyish green with your favorite rug and flooring....See MoreAccent pillows for sectional?
Comments (10)Maybe I’m the only one, but I like to have lots of pillows around me on sofas and sectionals, especially leather ones. We lounge on them, use them as arm rests, etc. I prefer them as a guest, too, for the above reasons. I might move one or two over, but have never felt the need to put any on the floor (unless someone has such an excessive amount, several rows of huge pillows in front of each other, for instance, and there’s no seating room). Do some of you just sit upright and don’t like pillows? Just curious, as I see that posted here often … not asking in a rude way. I have two full-sized sofas, each with four various sized pillows and more to be added when I find what I want. I kind of have a pillow obsession. :D ETA: rvc, as an example, I’d look for a couple of 20x20 pillows for the corner and for the chaise section. I have these from World Market and they’re comfy. Like you, I have Kilim pillows nearby. Mine are in the brick color. The other (matching) sofa has the Kilim pillows: <Ugh, can’t get my pic to show up. Having major issues with this site today!>...See MoreUser
