Comments (3)Poor thing, fancy being buried alive like that, it's no wonder he struggled!! DR seeds need to be soaked no more than a couple of hours and planted horizontally just barely covered with 'compost'....as you have now found out! I do hope he goes on to thrive and prove himself a worthwhile plant for you, keep us updated on hs progress please. Can't quite tell from the pic but the top of the mix looks like large particles/pebbles, is the mix alll like that? If so, bear in mind the seedlings root system is small/fine so they need smaller particles around their roots for optimum growth till the roots get bigger and stronger...just trying to help with a possible suggestion :) If i'ts just a top dressing, then forgive me!!Good luck. Comments (35)If you hear anything, please post. I tried to add to my order and got an automated reply. Then I got a cancellation of a Paypal request (never got the request). I am assuming she is swamped with getting orders out and I believe mine is due to ship fairly soon. I'm hoping to hear something. The original one went in Feb. but then VG bailed on me. I'm sure happy I ordered some things from Travis back then instead of counting on VG. You know though, it seems wrong to have to order Blue Dragon 3 different places to actually get 1. I can't keep doing that sort of thing. Diana...See Morelooking for good mail order source for Sarracenia
Comments (17)Just realized that you ordered from Wellspring...I'm a little slow! Were you happy? I just ordered three more Saracenia, 'Dana's delight' and a sundew. Haven't received them yet. I do think it helped to transplant my previous plants them when they arrived...The growing mix they were in was very fine-textured. It looked like it might get too mushy, so I put them in bigger pots with long-fibered sphagnum and sand. Although the plants weren't very tall, (around 4') they had a lot of little pitchers (20 to 25!) and a really healthy root system. I was impressed with the price, considering how much starter plants cost elsewhere! Also, last year at Trader Joes (of all places) I lucked out with two Judith hindle and one Scarlette belle for around $6.00 each. If I had known how well they would do, I would have bought all of them! Keep an eye out this summer if you have a Trader Joe's in your area....These are the ones in the photo by my pond.
