Need advice on kitchen recessed lighting

I would like to hear your thoughts on the size of recessed lights for my kitchen. I am doing a remodel and was looking at some 3" or 4" LED cans. After reading some more I am questioning that size. Now I am thinking of 6", except I see no reason to put in entire housings then putting in LED conversion bulbs.

These at HD seem pretty nice, but pricey

Then I saw these at Amazon and thought they they are cheaper and might be worth looking at.

Any thoughts?

??. You need install the cams still to make the lights recessed and functional. I talk to an license electrician since you seem a bit confuse.. They can talk to you about size and spacing and types of recess options for your kitchen too.. Other then a lighting specialist, a residental electrician is the person to advise you. An architect is another expert too.

The lights linked recess into the drywall and don't require a can.

There are recessed LED systems which include a housing for the LED lights (recessed housing that are installed into the ceiling).

The lights you linked from Amazon don't require cans. I don't know the risks to these but I am not sure these are UL approved lights that you linked so check for that. I also wonder about how well they dissipate heat.

The lights from Home Depot are very different from the Amazon ones and don't require a recessed housing either. The unit is also not UL listed. This may be an issue in certain jurisdictions. I wonder about replacements in the event of a failure with these units though. The price is not bad for the product you get.

I personally like 4" LED cans. Depending on how tall your ceilings are, 3" can may not provide enough light and you will need more of them for your design.

Its true as your family members told 'halogen bulbs' will be too hot.. Coming to the best part as your husband plan was nice but too much of lights in hall will never look cool .. If you wanna use it, the look will be pretty ordinary and looks like you done it for a reason.. So my advice is to use as your wish 3" bulbs and use them randomly the main place lights and these will be operated randomly.. so that these will be for decoration... if you want more.. you can check out the things.. For a dimmer switch, the size and rating of the dimmer switch dictates the amount of watts that can be placed on luminaires controlled by the switch. Most off-the-shelf residential dimmers are rated at only 600 watts. What this means is that for a 120 volt circuit utilizing a 15amp breaker, your maximum amount of a watts that can be used on the circuit is 1800... BUT, the maximum amount of light bulbs controlled by each 600 watt dimmer is the equivalent of 10 60 watt bulbs for a 600 watt total. You can increase the amount of lights and their wattages only by installing higher rated dimmers switches (800 watt or 1000 watt). In addition to that, each room in your house must be designed to provide a minimum of not less than 8% of window glazing area to floor area for natural lighting in any room, OR provide a minimum of 6 footcandles of artificial light over the entire area of the room at a height of 30 inches above the floor. @Patricia Colwell Consulting, thank you, contractor has said the same-just wait and get used to it. I'm very light sensitive, always have been, so LED has been tough for me-but I don't want a yellow glow, so good to know on that! Maybe I'll try 2700 in living and 3000k in kitchen, out kitchen is very white, so I don't want it to feel too sterile. Right now we just have old canned bulbs in there and the light is fine, actually quite bright (some of them might be LED bulbs now that I think about it). Thanks!

Thanks everyone! Yes, I definitely placed them too close to the countertops -- I realized that after I uploaded the schematic. I also realized afterwards that if I place them along each countertop I will in fact a bit of symmetry. I did plan to have the sink light on a separate switch which seems fine if it doesn't quite line up with the row of countertop lights along that run. Last dilemma is whether or not I need to light the fridge. I don't think so. It's a French door built in Thermador with its own light. Ditto the range which has a two light hood. I assume you measure 28-30" from wall to center of the can? All the advice is much appreciated!! My electrician and contractor are excellent but don't sweat these details quite as much as I do. First kitchen remodel for me and I have no idea when I will get to do it again

I have 4" cans in a 10 foot ceiling. They are ok, but I would not do them in an 8 foot ceiling and probably not a 9 foot. You need distance for the light beam to spread enough to give general lighting.
