GE Monogram vs. Thermador: 36" Gas Range

I have a 2.5 year old 36" Thermador 6-burner gas range. I LOVE the cooktop. Absolutely fantastic and fun to use. BUT I can hardly stand to bake in its oven anymore due to the VERY loud oven cooling fan that comes on at about 300 degrees. It is hard to believe that Thermador's engineers didn't come up with a better way to muffle this awful noise or figure out a different fan mechanism. So frustrating. And why does it have to come on at 300 degrees? Why not 400 so it is not so unbearable when cooking something at a lower temp over several hours? Unreal.

Anyhow, we are doing some renovations and seriously considering replacing the Thermador with a GE Monogram 6-burner gas range. I would love to hear some advice from real live users of the Monogram because I don't feel like any local sales people are very educated about it. All they say is "yeah, all ovens now are loud." REALLY? THIS loud?? So:

1) Is the Monogram's oven quiet?

2) Any performance issues on the cooktop or oven?

3) Pros or cons? Service issues?

Really, I would love any advice you can lend. The good, bad, and ugly. Thank you!

We are about to redo our kitchen and are considering both of these ranges. What did you end up doing?

Well, as is usually the case, the rest of the house renovation went over budget. So we kept our Thermador for now. I absolutely LOVE the cooktop. And the oven cooks very evenly but the fan is just so loud. It is super frustrating. However, we visited a high-end appliance showroom and looked at the newer 36" Thermador. It didn't seem near as loud, so I wonder if the Thermador engineers figured out a different fan mechanism. If you decide on the Monogram, I'd love to know what you think!

I have a Monogram, and use the simmer feature all the time. GE's claim of 140 degrees is reliable (I use a Raytek laser gun to confirm). (One reason I beat hubby down on his insistence on Viking is that Viking wouldn't commit to a specific simmer temp.) I frequently use 1-quart pots.

Hi Kayla - overall I like the dual fuel range. My husband loves the digital meat thermometer that came with it and we've made the best prime rib roasts since we've gotten this oven. The pre-heat does take awhile but we've gotten used to it. I've made cookies and they turn out great. We have also started using the lower oven more if we're baking something in a shallow dish, frozen garlic bread, rolls and etc. because it doesn't take as long to heat up. We've used the griddle to make sandwiches and pancakes and I'm happy with how that works and the easy clean up. I would say the stove top is easy to scratch if you aren't careful when you clean around the burners. Make sure you lift the grates up, off and set aside to clean and not just lift the front of the grates so you can wipe underneath. You'll scratch the little raised lip on the back of the stove top with the burner grates. I'm still not crazy about the overall height of the stove top but that's not really a fault. My husband on the other hand (6'2" tall) LOVES the dual range and all of it's features. He would highly recommend it to everyone. I like it. We also bought the matching over the range microwave. We bought it because you can bake in it and I thought we would really use that feature a lot but have found it takes a really long time to pre-heat the oven feature of the microwave and you have to use this little round raised baking rack which I have very few dishes that will fit, actually none now that I think about it. I thought it would be more like my old toaster/convection oven that sat on my counter top and it's really not at all. For the most part we just use the microwave to re-heat and warm things.
