Comments (10)My stereo has an iPhone app. :) It's already in cahoots with the Mieles on the wi-fi... So, you see, you have to attach a magnet to the remote so you can stick it on the stainless steel front of your DW, because you'd lose it otherwise, so that way you can have an easier time with the hidden controls which are there so you won't have buttons on the front of your DW... I wonder if it's really so that they can use the space for the wiring and display for something else. ;)...See MoreInput requested on dd's new bed.
Comments (8)Hmmm, this is tough because before you know it she'll be a pre-teen, then a teenager, and her taste will radically change from whatever it is now. On the one hand those loft bunk beds might be exciting now and would be cool later too. And they're space efficient - you can put another bed or a desk on the bottom. But maybe by 16 or 17 she'd outgrow that, I'm not sure. My daughter is 16 1/2 and doesn't seem to care much about her room at all anymore. Her years of trying to create a special space for herself there are over. I've even offered to get her a more comfortable bed and, surprisingly, she says "no, I'll be in college in a year and a half, it doesn't matter." The one thing she does need is ample storage, otherwise everything lives on the floor. I just asked my daughter if she thinks they're "too young" for someone her age and she said she doesn't think so, and "they're fun"....See MoreDD's new house
Comments (21)Well, it's finally over. The house is officially hers! This week has been a zoo. The lender kept asking for more and more information. (We found out later that while he works for a good company, he himself is apparently incompetant.) Closing had to be today at 10AM or the deal was off and the house goes back for a short sale and all that implies. The closing happened, but then they found out the money transfer had not happened. The bank who owned the house says to DD's lawyer, "If the money doesn't show up this afternoon we may have to evict the buyer!" Gee, that's comforting. So, she has the keys, but doesn't exactly own the house? Finally the money shows up about 4PM. The PO's were out about 2 hours after the closing and left the house in good shape and also left her the washer and dryer and a beautiful huge potted palm tree. While a bit strange, the people did seem very nice had taken good care of the house and my heart goes out to anyone who's forced to leave their home. Thanks for all the good wishes. DD has been through a lot in the last few years and has worked so hard to make a good life for herself. I'm so proud of her! Now with a new house and new husband, it looks like all her hard work has paid off. So, about the house, does anyone know what to do with that rectangle trim above the picture window? Should she just replace it as it is? (The current trim has rotted due to a poor paint job.) Or is there something else more interesting that could be done there? The house, for the time being will stay it's current cream color and they will have to decide on trim color. If any photoshoppers are out there. could someone paint the trim white and then a forest green. These are the colors they are considering. Thanks All!...See MoreWWYD: DD's New Dog
Comments (72)"The frustrating thing is that we've just unsuspectingly adopted an elderly 11 y/o dog who may develop significant health issues in the next few years." If the age of the dog was 3 or 4 years, or 3 or 4 months for that matter, they all will eventually have some health issues,if a pet is fortunate to live to an elderly age anyway. If she did lie, at least the dog is in a loving home. I would just let it go.As for the vet bill, well,if you get a pet and expect to keep it for the entirety of its life,.vet bills will happen anyway. At least she disclosed the dogs health condition and split the cost, rather than just giving the dog to your DD for free, and saddling her with the whole bill when she found out the dogs condition on her own. Besides, what's $350 for something with a face that CUTE?...See More- 10 years ago
