About podcasts...
Comments (7)I listen to podcasts when I go to bed. My favourites are Good Job Brain a trivia podcast - the group is a little loud but they have good quizzes and topics of trivia. A Way With Words, an etymology of words and sayings, it is a radio show and they have callers who call to ask about words and sayings, really interesting and a new show every Monday morning. The British History Podcast, my favourite, Jamie Jeffers really does his research and really goes in deep into Anglo Saxon history and the Dark Ages where most historians just gloss over. I bought one of his Hipster Hadrian tee shirts. The Food Programme, a BBC British show about food, not a cooking show. I really like this one. America's Test Kitchen, call in show with some tips and recipes and usually an interview. I used to listen to Stuff You Never Learned in History Class but when they put in 2 new narrators I didn't like their voices or the way they told the stories but the info is good. Desert Island Discs from BBC, I like to listen also to a few Scottish podcasts because I miss hearing the Scottish accent of my family members no longer with us. Canadian CBC also has podcasts I listen to. Anne This post was edited by cherryfizz on Tue, Jan 6, 15 at 14:59...See MoreMoving story on Moth Radio Hour
Comments (12)I also have "new" technology...never heard of "The Moth".....just yelled @ Alexa to play it. :0) I also "suddenly" like Howard Stern interviews/best of 2019, on SIrius radio. Anything else you "LIKE"?...See MorePodcasts, any favorites?
Comments (17)I have listened to the Moth too. I had a bunch of favorites on Stitcher that I listened to on my phone, but it has been quite awhile because service is so lousy here. I got started listening to S - Town, which was mentioned by the radio guy I listen to. I wouldn't like mindless banter on the radio either. Not sure why anyone would purposely seek that out. Lately I listen to Spotify and have been listening to some of Joe Rogan's interviews. There are so many different podcasts to listen to....and talk about mindless banter! So many are. I listen to Rogan on TV with ROKU. I listened to his interview with Bob Lazar last night. I need to see if I can get Stitcher on ROKU. It works better inside, because I am not outside moving around, which is how I used to listen to it before I moved here....See MoreThe beginnings of Houzz
Comments (51)I joined Gardenweb around 2001 because of the cooking forum. I was thinking about writing a cookbook, and I wanted to find out whether some of the recipes that I developed had already been done by someone else. Although I have written over 100 recipes of my own, I have never published them - I sort of lost interest. I joined Houzz before it took over GW because I wanted to research furniture designs that I was working on, and I joined as a professional, and they called my workplace to verify my employment as a furniture designer. Then when Houzz took over GW, I had two identities on Houzz, but I used my GW ID at home and the Houzz ID at work. LindaC at the Cooking Forum has met Spike and told stories about him....See MoreUser
