Interesting Observation about Kratky/DWC from a Newbie

I am still relatively new to hydroponics. I am growing in a 4x4 tent with a 400W MH bulb. I transitioned from using a large tub to individual buckets for DWC. I started expanding and soon had more buckets than air stones. So i started out a bunch of them as Kratky with the plan to move them to DWC.

I started a Tomato, bell pepper, kale, and romaine lettuce in kratky buckets. After 30 days or so, i upgraded my air pump and turned them into DWC. Interestingly enough, this change caused the Kale and Lettuce to bolt! The lettuce, just stopped growing and started to look all twisted, and the kale kept growing, but the leaves turned a weird color and tasted too bitter to eat.

The tomato and bell pepper are fine and have start growing like crazy and setting fruit, but i had to toss the kale and lettuce.

Not sure if this was the cause, just thought it interesting and with the lack of discussion here, i thought i would post it up for the few still lurking around.
