Wanted: Fabric Feedback on Crypton Jumper vs. Sag Harbor for Sofa
Comments (1)Not familiar with Sag Harbor but I just ordered a sofa with Crypton fabric at the advice of my interior designer who is very familiar with it and recommends it for areas with a lot of use. Re: dogs, I know a woman who makes custom dog beds and she uses Crypton fabric for the covers because they clean up so well....See MoreSunbrella v. Crypton
Comments (5)I read a suggestion of testing fabric softness on your face or upper arm. Our hands don't respond as much as our cheeks or arms! I am also in the process of choosing a crypton fabric. I'd LOVE a cream or off white (years and years of chocolate colored sofas) but I'm scared! We have a bird who poops every 20 minutes, an old dog and we are generally messy humans. :D I have some samples on the way and plan on doing some dirty work just to make sure a lighter sofa won't make me crazy long term! If anyone has feedback on lighter colored crypton fabric I'd love it!...See Morewashable slipcover vs. crypton
Comments (2)Most "Slipcovered" sofas from manufacturers are not designed to pull the cover off and wash it, if that is what you are thinking you will find that's not really going to work. They are tightly tailored to the piece and they can also shrink if washed. Performance fabrics are soap and water cleanable - so they have the advantage vs slipcover. They will not necessarily last longer, however. Durability is determined by the rub count of the specific fabric....See MoreCrypton vs sunbrella
Comments (1)I have a Crypton sectional (recovered my old one about a year and a half ago) and it has been a dream to clean. I just posted on another thread that within the first month of having it recovered, I spilled almost a fill glass of red wine on it. I was sick about it and looked quickly online what the cleaning instruction of my particular fabric was.It was water cleanable and it said to use a small amt of dishwasher soap in plain water to clean, dab it on and off and then dab with clean water. I did and every drop came out with not any indication that there had been a spill or clean-up. About a week later, I noticed an area on the front of the couch that I had missed, so I did the same thing to clean and it came right out. I think different Crypton fabrics require different cleaning methods. Some are not water cleanable but require a solvent. Perhaps yours was one of those fabrics. I don't quite understand Crypton, because it seems to come from different manufacturers (a method of making it stainproof) where I think Sunbrella is a brand name of one manufacturer. I've never liked the hand feel of Sunbrella at all. My Crypton is from Greenhouse fabrics and feels wonderful, soft, not at all like Sunbrella. You'd never know it was a stain resistant fabric. This is what I have...manufactured in USA, too, altho some from Greenwood are also from China. If you click on any of their fabric "details" section it will give you a cleaning code. This is W (for water cleanable). https://www.greenhousefabrics.com/fabrics/category/crypton_fabrics/style/chevron...See Morecpartist
