You folks must produce a great deal of body odour ... if you can't stand your own smell! You'd have a hard time hearing a burglar who came to visit while you were asleep ... also, during the day, possibly, if s/he were skilled at operating silently. In summer I sometimes like a fan operating nearby to move the air when it's really hot, but usualy not blowing on me if it's moving a substantial volume - no A/C. If blowing on me while I sleep, I may end up with sniffle, or somewhat stiff joints. In winter, when I have the temp. in the mid to low 60s, I like to have a heater fan aimed at my computer spot or easy chair, operating slowly so that I don't feel breezed upon. Different people like different operating systems, don't they? ole joyful

The aprilaires can be wired one of two ways. One is to kick on the blower when the humidistat calls for moisture. The other is to run the humidifier only when the furnace is blowing. It sounds very much like yours is wired up for the latter mode of operation but someone configured the controller for the other mode, which will INDEED run water at times when it can't use it.

You're welcome Jimmy. Use a licensed contractor in your area... avoid gimmicks like my brand is better than your brand type nonsense. It may be a challenge to find someone who fixes versus just trying to sell new equipment. Sometimes new equipment is the better way, so there is a fine line when it comes to things of this nature. Once you find someone who you trust, just use them. -- Many times this is against the grain of what is recommended on this board. Keep in mind anyone can do this type of work, but that doesn't mean they should... if you catch my drift. Little things say a lot... like putting you off. If they're putting you off, show up late excuses of being busy it often tells either they have alot of call backs or they're more about going places for free. These gimmick type services should be avoided. An expert doesn't work for free. Doesn't need to. Many times these are gut type decisions. If your gut is telling you something, listen to it. Avoid the money argument. If you make decisions only about money (how cheap someone is) --- that's the only reason they exist. When it comes to mechanical equipment and skill (how much or how little one has) once a company has proven they can fix your problem, reward them. Build a history with them. I was busy all day yesterday with repeat customers / referrals of those customers. If a customer from 5 years ago calls me I know their history. You don't get that by just calling a random company every time you have a problem. So keep these kinds of things in mind. I know there's not many out there like me, but we do exist.

Mike, As far as phals I'll repot anytime of year and I only change the media when I have to repot or divide. The phal in the picture above has been in the same spagh since the fall of 2019, I suspect I'll need to repot for aesthetic and media reasons in the next 6-8 months. As far as bark based plants, I use an orchiata mix that in my experience can last 2-3 years anyhow, so repotting is not done because of media breakdown usually. I gently pack spagh when I use it, I prefer a little large sponge rock in it if available. Here is the same phal as above, this morning with a few more blooms. It is hanging from a hook in the lip of the pot currently as it leans so bad it almost touches ground when sitting in pot straight. That's a leaf of another violacea to the front left, it has 1 fading bloom so not much to show. If you look closely the phal in the back is a mutant, the lip and bottom 2 petals fused on all blooms. It grows weird too, so some kind of genetic mutation. I like the oddness and floriferous (6 spikes currently) of it so I keep it around. Bob
