Pee-a-boo!
Comments (18)ghoghunter, I planted three plants not from seeds. Normally, my C&S vine is late to bloom - sometimes not until the end of August. Which must be common because I've heard a couple people make that comment at the nursery when I buy them. "It just blooms too late in the season". This one started to bloom towards the end of July. But I like it because once it gets its roots established it will grow like crazy and eventually bloom profusely. Well this year - look at it! It went completely nuts. Never have I had this vine grow quite like this, but I did manage to plant earlier this year. I think it was mid-May or at least around Mem.Day. Plus there was lots of rain this Spring. Look how it entwined itself over and up through the metal mesh top table, even tried to climb the side of the house until it fell upon itself, then decided to go horizontally along the window. I knew all along I shouldn't allow it to cling to the siding but I'm curious as to just how much further it will go. The ends of the tendrils do not seem to have those really sticky pads like some vines that stick like glue. Plus bees are always swarming over it. So far I still sit at the table and they seem intent on the flowers and not me! I think I'll have to encourage the vine away from my chair tho. ha....See Moremy pup has a big boo boo!
Comments (17)So after discussing the product with the trainer at the store we decided to return it. Besides the collar rubbing my pup's neck raw, there were times when it would not work when needed. This was a common complaint of the internet and it was not a battery issue or the prongs not hitting. It just would not work all of the time. I don't normally return stuff like this and the $189 pricetag was not bugging me even if I only used it a few times. It was the accumulation of issues. The store says they will return it to company with "customer dissatisfied" as the reason. So this morning he goes outside to check out the wind. Yeah, he sticks his nose out and just sniffs with his eyes shut. The neighbors boxer pup was running circles in his yard, jumping around like a kangaroo. So naturally my 2yr shephard had to join in. He barked a little but observing what they were both doing to each other it was clear it was puppy play. As soon as we asked him to Leave It and come Inside he obeyed wagging his tail. I felt bad for neighbor pup. From my upstairs window I could see him just staring at the fence with his little head tilted. I swear his eyes were tearing up! lol I think I need to see if my neighbor would agree to take them to a dog park so they can really play together on neutral territory. That could be really fun....See MoreSneak peek of kitchen in progress & need advice
Comments (22)Kat - I'll look forward to seeing your other photos! Lisa - thanks, I'm sure a coffered ceiling would look great in your house! I think it can be tailored for a particular space depending on how formal or informal you want it to look. I have to give the credit for the ceiling to our architect since he suggested it and I'll admit that I wasn't so sure about it at first. Our house is around 70 years old, so I was a bit worried about how it would look, but I think it fits in with the rest of the house pretty well. Honestly, I wasn't sure about it though until it was completely done and painted and then I loved it! Eliz - thanks! Hope you are enjoying your beautiful kitchen. I can identify with your comment about your basement being the "dungeon" - I am beginning to wonder if ours will ever be clean or usable again! I think we may just have to section it off with the yellow tape you see at crime scenes and just forget it exists - haha :) Right now, there isn't even a foundation in part of it, just red dirt, due to being torn out for plumbing! It's horrible! Hostagrams - I love the gray and would use a version of it in every room if not for my husband objecting! He thinks there needs to be more color, regardless of whether the colors look good together! Wow - I can't believe you have been taking care of that many hostas for a year - I wish I enjoyed gardening more. Good luck with your move into the new house - I hope everything is done for the deadline of May 1st!...See MoreKitchen sneak peek!!
Comments (56)Thank you so much everyone!!!! Y'all are just too nice! I'm just now seeing all the comments- I was hoping to address people individually, but my four year old ended up being hospitalized with dehydration last night. So, things have been a bit crazy (to say the least). I think someone asked about the island- it is walnut with dominant sapwood by Grothouse, and I have the mineral oil finish. I was a little scared how the dominant sapwood thing would turn out, but I love it. It feels so good to put my elbows on. I'll post more pictures and more details when things are less crazy. I'm not a procrastinator, so that will probably be in a couple weeks. THANK YOU to those of you who helped me. Boxer, I love how you pulled up that old thread. I didn't do this alone- I had lots of nice friends encouraging me. :)...See MoreUser
