Comments (7)Carolyn knows the history and according to some things that I have read I wonder if the people owning the rights to the name may be limiting distribution of the seed, I don't know. ***** Yes I do know the history of both of them and have discussed it here several times. Below I linked to those threads that deal with those two by just going to the bottom of the page and doing a search. There is NO distribution of seed from the Procacci Brothers for either variety on a commercial basis. Any seeds you see offered are from growing out the plants of either variety and saving the seeds since both are OP's, not hybrids. I'm actually fairly underwhelmed by both varieties but the names get attention and since they are usually available in the winter b'c they're grown in either FL or Mexico at that time of the year, folks buy them. Comments (39)Sorry it so long to get the last pic. I have all the parts . I think most my parts came from Amazon. Google "Stanley N112-102" to find best price. The only part you will have to find locally is the "box rail" track since shipping cost will kill you. Mine is 12 ft long so cost+ shipping would have been about $200. I found it at Lowes for $35....See MoreHas Anyone Repurposed Items in their Home?
Comments (106)Mine are mostly small things -- like using a glass compote to hold cotton balls in the bathroom -- or a cut glass tumbler to hold q-tips. A hinged CD holder (similar to the tissue box above but a double version) used as a spot to store extra TP. I have a dresser that is a TV stand for our exercise room and the drawers have my gift wrap rolls and ribbons. A home office armoire that was going to be my craft and gift wrap station became a china cabinet when my dad moved and I suddenly acquired another set of china and crystal and I wasn't ready to make decisions on getting rid of anything. I have an old radio cabinet that I cleaned up and planned to put a new shelf and door in the top, but the stained glass panel hasn't been made. I'm thinking about painting it and redirecting it's new life for another room now. Another one I haven't done buy we've talked about a couple of times is to put a pull out bed in a window seat to add a guest bed in our gameroom. I think the inflating mattresses are going to keep that one from happening -- take less room and are probably cheaper and more comfortable now that we no longer have a sofa with the pullout mechanism to repurpose. If a new thread is started, we should try to link this one at the top so these ideas and photos aren't lost -- st least as long as we can....See MoreUgly - Ugly house
Comments (15)Your house is not ugly, but if you feel that way no one here should be invalidating your feelings. I am sure you ARE thankful to have a home. Not liking how the exterior looks has nothing to do with being ungrateful or not feeling blessed to have a home. It simply means that the way it looks is distressing you. You should feel happy every time you pull up in your driveway. Think about what colors make you feel happy, and then find a tone that will accent the brick. Paint or new siding can do amazing things.Shutters in the right color and/or style may look nice, but if you don't like them at all, by all means remove them. Frankly I feel the windows on the back of your house could use some accenting. Maybe not each and every one, but they do look plain which may be part of what is making you feel your home is "ugly". It doesn't have to be shutters either. There should be a way to frame the windows so they look like trim has been put on them....much like we do inside. On a stucco home there are ways to make the windows look trimmed out and painted an accent color. Not sure about the type of siding you have, and whether you can achieve the same effect, but I would think someone could. Landscaping with shrubs, flowers, and trees will transform how your home looks. Done correctly they will bring areas that look out of proportion in scale with the surroundings. Plant trees first and go from there. If you sit outdoors and study your home, your instincts will tell you what you need. Find a friendly nursery and have fun with the process. Just don't plant the trees too close, and choose varieties that will fit the space. There are big trees, and there are smaller trees....See Moremaire_cate
