The worst craft show I have ever seen ....
Comments (13)I don't like a lot of the decorating or crafting shows anymore. I remember watching Trading Spaces and other shows ALL of the time but I don't watch that stuff unless I'm desperate now. My issue is a lot like Pattico's. I HATE modern decorating and that's all the shows tend to focus on. Not everyone likes what is "in" at the moment! I do like to watch that show "Find and Design" on TLC on Sunday's because they actually go out and find things at flea markets and yard sales. They also added Big Lots to the list so they must be a sponser. I just like that they use old stuff for new purposes. That's what I'm into. When I redecorate a room, I don't want to start from scratch! I like to take things I have and repaint or do something to make them match. A lot of the craft shows are jewlery, pottery, clay, etc. I don't do that stuff either. I do country crafts, primitive mostly. You can't find that on TV! Once in a while they have awesome houses on Country Style on HGTV but not always. Some of those houses aren't country at all to me. ~Leslie...See MoreEver feel like a real idiot...and laugh till you almost pass out
Comments (17)LOL I haven't done that one. But I practically always will turn on a light switch when the power is off. Once I was at my mothers and her uncle and aunt were coming. We had a power outage, he had health problems, and I wanted the house to be nice and warm for them. So....I lined the back of the fireplace with aluminum foil to reflect the heat. It took me quite a while to do the job, got done and then took us a while to find the fan (to blow the heat out into the room) and then went to plug the fan in when it hit.....DUH....there IS no power. We about laughed ourselves silly. I probably spent 30 minutes on that project. LOL...See MoreDo you ever feel like the 'counter top' police?
Comments (29)I think perhaps by definition we TKO are disproportionately fussbudgety. What's it all for anyway? You can't take those perfectly unscratched cabinets with you. Maybe have yourself buried with them like pharaohs? Nah..... Dings Happen. And as for dh's who can't refrain from cutting on granite - well, that's why we just need to teach (or have taught) our children well.... :) And in the absence of that, this is why we have MIL jokes... ;) FWIW -- I drive around in a minivan that has a cracked bumper; you can see its innards, the metal "I-beam"-like thingymabob in there. It is very out of place in LA where so much is just-so. I attract a lot of attention. But it is not worth it to me to spend the money (thousands; more than the car's worth) to fix it. And in all honesty, I don't care, though I recognize it gives many the willies. Thing is, it reminds me of an interlude in French Canada where the ding was inflicted by a snowplow. They have a very different relationship with snowplows, snow removal and those who perform said operations there. The previous winter there had been several individuals killed by errant snowplows. But subsequent inquiries had determined the individuals were simply "in the wrong place at the wrong time" -- like my car and its bumper (parked, on the side of the road with many others just like it). Things happen, and just about all that changes is our reactions to it. Seems a life's lesson I rather value leaving visible on my bumper. But of course that's way too long a story to explain to the guys trolling parking lots looking to "fix" it (not) for a few $$....See MoreMy worst CL experience ever - I may never buy used again!
Comments (39)juddgirl2 - I have been on vacation and am now seeing this thread. Now I am traumatized by just reading it! Try putting a freshly cut apple in your sons desk drawers. Leave them inside for a few days. This little trick was giving to us by a car dealer to remove odors from cars. My daughters cat urinated on her back seat. We removed the seat cover and shampooed it, but the smell was still slightly detected. The apple worked, although my daughter forgot about it and it attracted fruit flies! segbrown - If you have the stomach, read my story about our outdoor grill. Beware...it is heart wrenching, but the grill lives on, even though it took several hose and dishwasher cleanings to be presentable for me to cook on. I wanted to get rid of it, but DH wouldn't hear of it. Here is a link that might be useful: The grill versus the birds...See MoreUser
